TPI can't keep the Newton plant fully staffed but want state money to build another plant? What's wrong with this picture?

That's the security of GREEN jobs, what a joke. I shall coin a popular internet phrase, changed ever so slightly just for them. JOBS or GTFO.

TPI is running a scam. They make promises they cant keep and then ask for even more money to build another plant in the same state. Wow these guys are outof control. Shut down the Newton plant first before asking for more money from Iowas tax payers atleast TPI.Newton workers are pretty lazy.

and lets keep pushing for this cruddy GREEN economy....right down the drain...and start pushing real economy...based on real demand...not some government tax padded scheme. I wonder what payoff and revenues were paid out already..someone should ask for an audit.

Work with TPI? The company has flat out said they will NOT meet the requirement of a minimum of 500 employees by the end of July. After just announcing this major cutback why would anyone think they will meet the requirement? Time to get the incentive money back! They broke their word and didn't keep up their end of the bargain so contract over.

And now the state is still considering giving them more money for a separate location???

Sounds all to familiar with Culver at the helm. Didn't he just visit their facilty a few months ago bragging about how great this company is and saying that his trip was not political. Now the truth comes out they were asking for more government money and he was asking for political support. Ah don't we love it when the truth starts to surface.

What you fail to remember is that is 233 jobs that Newton did not have prior to TPI. That is 233 people with benefits and decent pay right in Newton. And who are you Wow to say those workers are lazy? Do you work there? I know several people who work there and they are some of the hardest working people I know.

Why does everyone want to play the us vs. them blame game. Because that is how the politicians like to do it. It has nothing to do with 'bad management' or 'lazy employees'. That is too simplistic of a view. Its like Obama blaming everything on Wall Street, the bankers, big oil, etc. Get over it and do some thinking. I agree that the green economy is being inflated by 'free money' in order to spark artificial demand. But why would this company be failing? Management? No. It is because our economy is in the tank still!! You have to look at Obama, Pelosi, and the rest of Congress(both sides) Creating jobs and improving the economy is not a priority for them. They write bills that throw money at problems(in a fire) but have no real solutions or ideas in them. Unemployment numbers came out today and they are the highest in three months. I wonder why? Bad management? Lazy employees? No. It's because Washington is screwing the pooch and these people are the result. Get it through your heads. Washington is the cause of everything that is wrong with this country. Vote them out in November. Both sides.

Board member Toby Shine said a different product is made in Newton than would be made in Sioux City.
"One doesn’t relate to the other," Shine said.
Keep in mind that the Ohio Tpi Plant was a different product also. Ohio Plant closed after 2 years!!
My point is maybe Iowa should invest in current companies in Iowa and maybe small businesses. Why give all the money to TPI?

Culver's political ambitions are backfiring on him-just like his predecessor. The media is SO biased. The economy is NOT getting better-I know several college graduates who can't find a job-people still losing their houses-and yet, the state of Iowa keeps kissing ass to all these "green industries" while ignoring the REAL problems-handing over our tax dollars to big companies who couldn't care less-they get free money for awhile and make promises they never intend to keep.

I don't know how my post came up Ardmore, AL. I am actually in Iowa City. I know somehow this is Culver's fault, too! ha ha

I am sick and tired of big companines comming into a town and giving people work just so they can pull it out from under them.
It is'nt just here, when I lived in Indiana I worked for a plant that did work for a top car manufacture and just after two weeks after I had left they started the down sizing game. The president wants people to go back to school but, yet companies are down sizing so I ask what's the use of a college education if your not going to have a job to go to after reciving your degree? I will say that I do plan on going back to college in hopes of a brighter future. Ok I'm done. God Bless.

I moved back to Newton not to long ago and this is my home town I was born here. The point is I just whish that these big companies would quit telling people "where hiring". What they should say is where hiring BUT, in a few months where letting you go. I personaly wish that the people who got laid off will find work. I'm still looking my self.
God Bless.

Just another "GREEN" scam. I'm sure Al Gore will come out ahead though. Newton deserves better.

TPI Sold wind blades to Iowa and the city of Newton like snake oil sales men. They come here to take from us dumb hill billies cuz they can.Everyone has jumped on board. Our light bills get rised 20% to pay for these sub standard blades and turbines. Cant wait to see how we here in ceneral Iowa get robbed next. And yes workers in Newton are lazy and way over paid building these junk blades.
