A bizarre twist to a run to Florida for pain pills, has landed seven local residents in jail. Dandridge Police Detective Kenneth Lodwick said Thursday that the episode began when Jason Black, 29, Finchum Road, Newport, Donald Atkins, 34, Chucky River Road, Morristown, Conrado Morales III, 28, Walker Hill Way, Newport, Rocco Boscaglia, 46, R.H. Ellis Road, Dandridge and Danielle Dunn, 26, Lower English Creek Road, Cosby, occupying a 1997 Honda Accord, went to a Florida pain clinic where they obtained prescriptions for oxycodone and valium. On the way home the group stopped off in Alabama to have the prescriptions filled and then drove on to a travel center in Knox County where Boscaglia and Morales reportedly stole pills from Black and Adkins. After being joined by a 1996 Dodge Stratus occupied by Ashley Watson, 23, Fincher Road, Newport and Esther Pridemore, 39, R.H. Ellis Road, Dandridge, the group stopped off at the Pilot Travel Center off I-40 in Jefferson County. While at the travel center at 4:30am Wednesday, Black called 911 to report "some items had been taken from him", according to Lt. Lodwick. Dandridge Captain Josh Rigsby and Officer Shane Hanshew were joined by several Jefferson County deputies in responding to the scene and blocking in the two autos. Morales attempted to flee on foot but was quickly captured. Lt. Lodwick and Detective Sgt. Kevin Bunch, also with the Dandridge P.D. responded to the scene and determined that the subjects had 96 oxycodone and 22 valium pills. In addition to the narcotics,$650 in cash and both autos were seized by the officers. All of the individuals have been charged with possession of schedule II and IV controlled substances with the intent to distribute. Morales, Dunn, Pridemore and Watson also are charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, Morales is being held without bond because of pending charges in Cocke County. Bonds for the other defendants range from $25,000 to $41,500.
