I absolutely loved this place when they first opened at the big store but now they are getting a little ridiculous. First off they charge near retail prices for used, donated items it also depends on who is working that particular day. They obviously do not have a set price scale. If you see the "preacher" out there with his girlfriend try asking him where their matching his and her Nissan Titan trucks came from. Well better where the money comes from to pay for them. Also a majority of the clothes they get gets bundled up and sold to a rag company for nearly $7,000 a load. They are not using all the money for what they say they are. It seems to me that they would use part of it to fix the roof of the building instead of rain dripping down on top of you while you shop. One last note. They have alot of druggies working out there too.

I know exactly. I use to give them extra money when I would pay for my items. Money that was to go to the food bank. But who really knows where that money ended up going.

Report him to the consumer protection agency. Report him to the IRS if he is operating as a non-profit church. Report him to his wife. Quit donating. Quit going out there.

Well, I dont care if he has a girl friend or wife or whatever BUT I do care about how he uses the money made by "donations" for needy people in the name of God. It is not being handled properly no matter who is running it.

The word donation is the same as a gift, something given, no charge, free and clear. So if you donate something, you are giving it away. The idea of a helping operation like that is a great thing if run properly. Also, I have been on the collecting end for operations like this, its hard take items that is "trash" and resell it. So those bails might be just what they selling them as "rags".

But yeah, I think there would be some type of audit or something that would show if its a scam. I dont know how the laws work for a so called church. If you have thoughts that something is wrong, make the call, file a complaint, get the ball rolling OR just dont go there anymore.
I know that lol

After thinking more on this subject, because it does bother me, how many people know the cost of running G's S? To rent/lease a building that size might be 3-4000.00 a month plus electric, ect.. And do the workers get any pay for there time or is it all volunteer work? Just because its non-profit does not mean they dont have bills.

The only income a "church" has is donation being either peoples time, money or things as donations. Its clear to me that sorting old or use clothing for either store resale or bailed for rags is a small issue. The bigger issue is where the money goes from all this.

As for the "matching his/hers" trucks, if they are owned by the church, used for the church, they are part on the church and not "personally" owned. Thats legal..

I dont think the issue is about legality. It is about MORALs here. How this so called "preacher" can and is doing things that he is doing. Also I highly doubt that he has that much "trash" rags coming in. Besides that I had been told before that the bundles were going to Haiti then later found out the TRUTH. I have stopped going there and just want others to know where the money really goes.

I have know this man for years. When he was on tv with fire on the rock. Also knew his wife a very sweet lady a RN and his son from a diff. wife.He was a very good man back than. I have not heard him preach in a few years. But I have saw a lot of good men go bad over women and money. But when I see him I will ask him about this.I'll look him right in the eyes also,at my age I will not play church> I do tell it like I see it. If it hurts it will have to just hurt.Bless God and stop playing around, life is to short.

I know what you are saying. And if this is, in fact, whats going on then everyone should know about it. Legal and moral very seldom come together in our world today. I was just saying that all non-profit operations have expenses and bills to pay somehow. Personaly I dont go in G's S much (mabe 2 times last year). Its the moral part of this issue that bothers me but what can ya do about it "if" its legal. Even if no one went there it would continue in one form or another..

OK, I have said my part. God bless everyone.

I hate to tell you this, but Goodwill is run basically the same way. The money made from the sales are susposed to go to train the workers in the back. The first thing they are given is a list of sizes and collectables from the trainer. These items are to be put to one side for the trainer, secretary and manager of the back to take home. they are only paid about $2 an hour because they all draw SSI. The owner of the 8 or 9 area stores lives in a mansion, drives a cadilac, owns a boat and has really young girl friends to dress. (not from Goodwill). If you don't believe this, ask anyone who has worked there or go to Knoxville and look up Dr. Rosenbaum, the owner. Unsold clothes are baled and sent overseas to be sold. Most store managers also grab the best things to come through.
