Like I properly stated darlin', COBRA has to do with the legal right to your insurance after you lose coverage. EMTLA is different altogether. One has nothing to do with the other.

I had to take my husband there (thank goodness) for only a minor surgery after which he had to stay overnight! You would have thought I was married to Brad Pitt the way the nurses threw themselves at him, good thing I was in the room or they would have jumped on up there with him. Exaggerating,, I thought so until family members noticed it
also!! They have no respect for themselves, no modesty, and are down right HOES!!! All of them, wasnt just one nurse, I tried to go to the management but they acted almost if not worse then the nurses!!! Talking about, " wonder what hes like in bed",,excuse me but thats my husband, and you would expect a nurse and especially management to act more professional! Yes, I heard the comments, and yes I could have said something but I was in a public place and Im way more classy then the whores that work there!!! PS,,ended up having to take him to Knoxville,,his one night stay at the wonderful Cocke County hospital set up an infection in his surgery site!

Think again "darlin". Learn to f*cking read before you open your dick hole. There are four major requirements of this COBRA legislation which directly affect delivery of healthcare services.  These requirements are:Stabilization of patients prior to transferAcceptance by receiving hospital before the patient is sent to the new siteConsent by the patient for the transfer to another hospitalTransfer of adequate medical records along with the patientAll hospitals (participating in the Medicare program) must now provide a screening exam and treatment for patients with emergency medical conditions and for women in labor.  Prior to transfer to another hospital, the first hospital must stabilize the patient or deliver the baby.  This action must be taken even if a person is unable to pay for this treatment.

Congress passed the landmark Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA){1} health benefit provisions in 1986. The law amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Internal Revenue Code and the Public Health Service Act to provide continuation of group health coverage that otherwise would be terminated.

COBRA contains provisions giving certain former employees, retirees, spouses and dependent children the right to temporary continuation of health coverage at group rates. This coverage, however, is only available in specific instances. Group health coverage for COBRA participants is usually more expensive than health coverage for active employees, since usually the employer formerly paid a part of the premium. It is ordinarily less expensive, though, than individual health coverage.

The law generally covers group health plans maintained by employers with 20 or more employees in the prior year. It applies to plans in the private sector and those sponsored by state and local governments.{2} The law does not, however, apply to plans sponsored by the Federal government and certain church- related organizations.

Group health plans sponsored by private sector employers generally are welfare benefit plans governed by ERISA and subject to its requirements for reporting and disclosure, fiduciary standards and enforcement. ERISA neither establishes minimum standards or benefit eligibility for welfare plans nor mandates the type or level of benefits offered to plan participants. It does, though, require that these plans have rules outlining how workers become entitled to benefits.

In simple terms, if you lost your job at Walmart and you had been carrying medical benefits, you would have the legal right to carry them at the same cost and have the same plan coverage. It does not govern any kind of medical care because every employer offers different kinds and types of coverage.:)

Do me a favor "darlin" and google Cobra. That law covers a broad range of topics , not just employee benefits. Please stop feeling like because you know something about a subject that you are an expert. My last post wasnt something i wrote to prove a point, i cut and pasted it from a very reputable site.

You didn't prove any point because your information is incorrect, and it covers nothing, other than what I stated above.

I went to the er and was sent to Knoxville and they were worse than they are in CC If I have a heart attack or stroke I would 100 times feel safer there than any other place I am speaking from knowing. They saved my mother's live there and was sent to Knoxville St Mary's and recieved staff there so family if I am sick leave me in CC and the young pretty nurses that work there your husband would wish they hit on him. Before you say it I do not know most of them and I am not kin to any of them.

Yeah you're classy alright. So classy you run home and get on a gossip site, hide behind your keyboard and call EVERY FEMALE working at the hospital a whore. No classy is something you are definately not!
That's what this site is. Everyone is called a whore, a ho or whatever other put down that comes to mind.
Newport is a sad little town. And sadder yet is the attitudes you see on this site are the attitudes people really have out there in the real world.

Tennova is excellent at the services they provide. One can find fault at any facility or with any provider. I am thankful we have a local hospital to handle the illnesses they can and to stabilize and transfer those they can't. Grow up. Let your family member have a CVA and drive them to Knoxville so they can be pronounced dead. Stupid is as stupid does.
