If the truck WAS going too fast, then he is definetely at fault. But please keep this in mind before you go criticizing all truckers. Truckers are like car operators. There are those that drive safely and properly and those that don't. Not all truckers drive like the man in the accident. I've seen plenty of people in cars drive like madmen around my truck and wonder where they ever got a license. Just please remember a couple of things. A fully loaded truck takes the distance of a football field to come to a full stop after hitting the brakes. A fully loaded truck can weigh more than 80,000 pounds. A fully loaded truck CANNOT stop on a dime or when the jerk in front of him cuts him off. Keep a distance of 2-3 car lengths in front of or behind a truck. Never pass on the right, always the left. As a trucker, I hear everyday how people dislike truckers, but the same goes the other way. When we drive safely (like 99% of us) we have to worry about you and ourselves on the road. A person in a car making rapid lane changes or sudden braking to catch a missed exit, or turning without turn signals on can create havoc on the roadway. A mutual respect for each other will be the only way to prevent such disasters.
