Sam spends money like a sailor on shore leave and panders to special interest groups. I will never understand the thinking of Portland voters.

They wish to proudly proclaim, "See? We've evolved! We're not racists and we don't discriminate!", as they gleefully follow the mayor and Obama into the sea.

Liberalism truly is a mental illness.

Would you rather have an openly gay mayor or an "in the closet" one? Your little world and knowledge of it is scary.
OBAMA 2008!

Proof that ignorance and prejudice exist even in as progressive a place as Portland.

Oh, and since you asked...i would rather they ALL stay in the closet instead of flaunting their illness in my face and marching in the streets.
There was a reason they were all in the closet 30 years ago. They might have a right to their own private life...but being gay should not get them special rights or compensation.

well let's thank all of those who voted for Sammy, now the City of Portland will be caught up in AIDS, that's correct that nasty little disease, just like those whom ride their bike' in downtown, one day they will die as well, we can only hope for a quick demise for Sammy. Recall Recall

Yep, I'm 'out.'
You say it like it's a problem....

My original post never mentioned a problem with him being gay and being the mayor...2 completely different subjects.
When asked this morning about his first point of business as mayor, he mentioned his 'obvious' interest in gay issues as well as other special interest groups.
THAT says it all...and the reason I think he stinks as a mayor more than his 2 predecessors.
He's a liberal and spends worse than Bush does.
AND panders to special interest instead of the public interest...he says so himself.

You know... not too long ago, women had to march in those same streets. Most women then were "in the closet", but in a different way (stuck in the kitchen). they were flaunting there desire to vote too. get used this stuff homophobe.
Nobody wants to be that crazy old lady who nobody likes.

another one speaks up with experience, of being reared here in the city of Portland, the City that panders to Gays. but wait a minute, what's that you say, Oregon bans Gay Marriage, and does not recognize those that were Married elsewhere and came to Portland to ride their Bike' or walk in the streets to protest their sexuality

Illness? Ooooo... another well-meaning, loving Christian, I assume? They were in the closet because they were afraid of running into groups of people like you who would STONE them dead.

They don't want special rights or compensation... they want the same rights and compensation that YOU enjoy.

Reading some of these posts from people in Portland (much less other areas of Oregon and the country) make me horribly ashamed to be an American. So hateful and judgemental!

I wish our new mayor all the best... I support him 100%.

Reading all of the "gay" sympathizers' whiney little comments in here makes me ashamed to be an American. So wus, so hairbrained!
I wish our new gayer-mayor all the best medical science can offer for STDs!
well put! this guy is a joke. and the fact that so many got behind him helps explain how so many can get behind the liberal demos and the jim jones of the world...incredible bunch of dunderheaded fools are out there.
I have good family morals and standards...and if that means i'm to be called a homophobe, so be it.
that 'in' term hasn't run its course yet i guess so some still feel the need to toss it around when they don't have an intelligent thought.
it matters not the least to me.

Is this all it takes to upset you ...?(!!!!!
