My wife and I make the mistake of getting a month to month membership with our local Bally center. The center wasn't worth the money and the service wasn't great. We selected the month to month plan so if we didn't like it in time we could cancel without the long term commitment. I should have known better. The contract required for us to send a letter requesting our membership to be cancelled. In July I went and requested the address to send the letter. The person working said they can do it from there. After a month we hadn't received a conformation letter so we mailed a letter for each of us requesting cancellation. We did it again in Sept and Oct. In Oct I received my cancelation conformation but surprise I was charged for Nov. My wife didn't receive a cancelation. Instead she received a conformation of her request of EXTENTION of her membership. These people are not provide piss poor service they can't read either! We have sent 3 letters and tried to call (to date over 60 times and never connected) and they are still ripping us off. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Come to find out they have so many complaints on their underhanded and dishonest pratices they can't keep up. My next option is to file a formal complaint with my state representative,. I believe if enought people do the same then maybe they will take some action/. Another option is a class action suit:. The problem is there has been no reprocussions for their actions so they will continue to charge peoples accounts and steal your money as long as they can'. It looks like I will have to cancel my credit card to finally stop payments the payments'.

Keep a close watch on your credit report because they will put a judgement against you. Even 5 years from now.

Ballys was extending memberships, knowly that it was going under. A club tookover recently called 'Crunch Fitness.' The club is = to a community center now. Go visit Cruch. The pools is gone, the sauns is gone, steam rooms, and equipment is sitting in the back parking lost, Bally's crap left behind.
They, Cruncg Fitness, will transfer your membership if you had a Bally's card, but they will add on extra cash and try to sign you on the spot like a used car saleman. They will tell you they have club allover the US and World. Not true. Look at the web sit location, 1 in the entire area. If you are on the West Coast, La Fitness will take it. My advice, take the loss and look for a local club. Also, Ballys TF Stock in 2007 was 37.00 per share and over 400 clubs. It was last traded on Jan 18, 2012 at 0.01, yes, 1 cent per share. Gone off the pink slip and NYSE.sORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. BUT, BEWARE OF 'CRUNCH', THEY VERBATEM GAVE ME THE SAME SALES PITCH 14 YEARS AGO. yES, THEY CAN SCREW YOUR CREDIT.
