Why is that you assume people are doing crack, or any other kind of other drug for that matter, just because this happened. And unless you know her PERSONALLY you don't have any right to say that about her or that her children should be taken away from her. You don't know how she lives her life, this could happen to anybody. Do you have kids? How would you like it if someone said your kids should be taken away from you?
Maybe you need to be more aware of where this area is at & my kids don't roam around by themselves in the middle of the night, I know where my toddlers are at ALL of the time!

I do know where this area is at, i used to live in newport news. but you assume that this happened to her, because of where she lives, that she allows her child to wander around in the middle of the night. until you know for a fact that this happened because she was being irresponsible, then you shouldn't judge her. so, what would you have done if your child decided to get up in the middle of the night, while you were sleeping, and managede to get out of the house? you might know that you put your child in the bed, just as i do because i have a 3 year old and a 2 year old, then go to bed yourself. you never know what kids will or are capable of doing unless this happened to you. now, i agree, that if this happened because she was not watching her children, then they did the right thing in arresting her. if it was merely an accident, as she says it was, then ya'll all need to lay off of her.

Where was the mother found? They haven't disclosed that or I missed it in the article. Either way, if found guilty, she needs to be sterilized so no more 'fatherless' kids are born.

I do have locks on my doors, thank you very much. I have nothing to make an excuse for, so why don't you mind your own fucking business and stay out of everybody else's. And if you are going to spell a word, make sure it is correct--it is wander, not wonder dumbass!!

First of all, i didn't spell anything wrong in any of my posts. And secondly, it is not hitting any nerves with me cause i trake care of my kids. What pisses me off is stupid shits like you who judge poeple that you don't even know. I have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about, my kids are well and very healthy and are always looked after and taken care of!! Like I said before, don't stick your nose in where it doesn't belong in things you know nothing about. Maybe I hit a nerve with you and that's why you are saying these things to me??? Hmmm? And you don't have to put quotes around my name, because that's what it is. I don't have to hide behind some stupid name like "liveluvlaugh", which by the way, you spelled luv wrong--it's "love" bitch!!!

It's just amazing how so many parents abuse their children in so many ways, only to be allowed to continue to do so because the social services and courts don't recognize it as abuse until it's too late.
Mental abuse,(degrading the child in any manner, attempting to keep the child from advancing mentaly, and forcing the child to act out or lie in an attempt to have the child declared needy for the benefit of profit, happens a lot. Yet most types of abuse outside of shear physical abuse are either not recognized or are chosen to be ignored because of problems within the systems that currently exist.
In the end, it all leads to the same thing, children who are killed, children who become criminal later in life, and future abusers.
Right now the laws are tilted to far towards the parents and to far away from those that wish to protect the children.

Wow. My mom didn't believe me when I told her there was still predjudice in the world. She said I shouldn't teach my child about this ignorance that I know still exists. And it crosses all racial, social, and economic classes. Mom doesn't believe me. We had a family member whose child walked away from home in the early morning hours. When the mother went to wake the child for the morning, he was gone. Thankfully, the neighbor was outside, called the parents and brought the child home. Guess what...they aren't poor, don't live in the ghetto, are drug and alcohol free... upper middle class....WHITE parents. Go Figure.

I dont believe she was ignorant she probably was a poor single mother working hard to raise her two children. She put her children to bed and decided to get some rest herself, who could presume that any child would decide to go outside at that time of the morning. She was BLESSED and nobody harmed her in anyway, this young lady should not be behind bars, the neigbors stated she wasnt a bad parent, half of those women located in that area have no help, only public assistant and men that circulate from one woman to the next. So some choose to raise there children a lone and do the best that they can. This couldnt have happen to anyone..........and for those saying not me it is possible honey. Children do what they see this little girl probably saw her mother open that door numerous of times, and she thought she could do it as well. Let wake up people we dont know everyone situation, so before you judge, how about helping solve child hunger, homelessness, and other issues sprending over our country today.
I am sorry she is a terrible parent. And the stud where ever he is should be castrated. WE do not need people like this bringing children into this world. The fact that you say she could not have prevented this tells me that you also are in question. Put an aspirin between your knees and keep it there.

This article only brings to light the lack of concern that some young parents have for the safety of their children or their cry that they need help beyond what they are able to give. It is time to stop this in the African American neighborhoods. If you are a part of the village, maybe you should adhere to the African proverb: It takes a village to raise the children. Please yound people, take care of your children or take the necessary precautions and stop having them. Children require around the clock attention.
Exactly. I know how much work kids involve, that's why I don't want them and will never have them. Birth control is available, even if it isn't that easy to obtain in all areas. It is a parent's responsibility to take care of their kids, not an entire village. If people can't accept that, they shouldn't become parents.

So, are you trying to say that this only happens to African Americans? It sounds like to me you are being a little prejudiced. I have a 3 year old and she is smart beyond her age and she knows how to unlock and open all the doors in our house. I keep the chain on the door because we live right on the four-lane, but it doesn't stop her from trying to unlock that too.
Then how about spending some extra money and installing a slide lock on a very high place on the door your kid CAN'T reach but only you can? That would solve the problem right away. Would that be so hard?

If your three-year-old can unlock those locks, they're not doing much, are they. An extra slide bolt lock installed where only YOU can reach it would solve the problem of your kid unlocking doors.

Oh please, we don't need such extreme measures that you stated. More access to reliable birth control and voluntary sterilization for those who want it would go a long way in solving the problems bad parenting presents. My birth control was a tubal ligation, and I had to wait until my 30's to get it. Luckily I was able to pay for my BC pills until then.

Don't forget the Section 8 housing that this so called "mother" probably recieves. Remember this allows the purchase of more crack!
