Hope it has pistol range too, so I can get fit, and learn to shoot to fend off the 757Thugs.

I am in favor of any fitness center that offers an opportunity for physical acitvity but I wouldnt go to a place that doesnt have someone there to overlook what is going on. If the owners cant provide 24hr supervision its a no go and would leave the owners open to law suit if someone had an attack or an accident and there was no one there (employee) to help them. Also I didnt see anything about a pool. Many people who can exercize in water cant on land. Doesnt sound too good to me I think I will just stay with the Riverside Wellnes Center They have everything I need including the pool and trained personel to look after things and us, the members.

That is the first thing that came to my mind also - SECURITY. Is there going to be 24-hour ARMED security at the place? 757 = Thugland - You got THAT right!

Wow! A security card! Like some dirt bag couldnít get in the building! I always thought these 24hr places are a tragedy waiting to happen. There is no one there after hours and who in their right mind would go there like 2 in the morning and in that area to boot! If you have to join a gym, stick with riverside as the poster above said! Donít mess with these gimmick type places.

Mr Presley, you are so right. Isn't that the corner opposite from the old Crabbers "nite spot"? And we all know what kind of place that turned into.

Hampton sure knows how to pick 'em ,a 24 hour fitness center without anyone around after hours to make sure the thug life don't come by and use it for anything but fitness.I can't wait to see the lawyers cleaning up from an injury suit in this plsce. It will make GREAT news copy.

Sounds like an excellent idea to me. This is a fitness center that I might actually consider joining as I have always just worked out at home. Also, for some folks that are overweight and self conscious they wouldn't have to be concerned (for the most part) about morons (such as some posts above me) making fun of their weight, they could get motivated and just go later at night or at off hours when the clowns are home. Wish I had thought of it.

Wow! Another economic engine brought to you by the visionary Boss Ross Kearney. He put millions of taxpayer money into the Power Plant and had years to attract businesses and this is all he could come up with? He has taxed us all so much that we can no longer afford to join a fitness center. Instead most people in the city need second jobs to keep up with his outrageous spending habits. Just remember that in May the only way to make the city healthy is to Toss Boss Ross!

The Power Plant should be renamed The Sewer Plant!
Oh by the way; I just saw on my way back from DC last week that there is a Bass Pro shop being built near Fredsricksburg.
So much for any vacationers from up north stopping into The Sewer Plant to spedn money in our Bass Pro shop as they head to Virginia Beach to spend all their money.

This is Fat Town, USA where no one exercises, much less at 3AM in the morning. It will close in less than one year.

Looks like city council is just dumping in any retial it can to pay taxes.

Here's some free suggetions to council that might make people from all around think about risking their lives to visit our beloved 757Hug-a-Thug town.

IKEA
ESPN Zone
Planet Hollywood
Apple Computer Store

The population in Hampton Roads does not warrent IKEA, ESPN Zone, Planet Hollywood or an Apple Computer Store investing in the area.

Anyone who has lived in major cities and works out frequently is very familar with the idea 24 hour fitness centers. When I moved into the area I felt it odd there were no fitness centers available 24 hours.

As for the violence in Hampton Roads, this is one of the safest communities in America. Given the fact that almost a quarter of the population in America lives within 600 miles of Norfolk, crime really isn't an issue as much as the folks make it out in their complaints.

Of the States on the East Coast only Connecticut, Delaware and Massachusetts has less violent crime totals and murders than Virginia and Connecticut has half the population of Virginia, while Delaware has only 15% of the population Virginia has.

Seems that individuals are over stating the crime problem in Virginia and Hampton Road, the city of New York has more murders and violent crime than the whole state of Virginia while being home to reltively the same number of people. 7.6 Million

Crazy and you can be certain violence comes with it at all hours of the morning.

Yep - all real UPSCALE places for sure - NOT! One greasy spoon chain restaurant after another. Same old kind of food you can get at Ruby Tuesday, Applesby, TGI Fridays, Kelly's.....on and on it goes.

This is one of the safest communities in America? What kind of pipe are you smoking, Kyle? That corner at Power Plant and Mercury is not one of the safest areas in America. You must be part of the developers or Hampton planning department. But you go ahead and walk into the 24 hour fitness place at 2:00 AM. You'll have plenty of access to the equipment because 99.9% of residents would not risk their safety. Ask Hampton PD what they think.

Compare Hampton Roads with other localities situated on the eastern seaboard with the same population. The numbers speak for themselves.

I don't believe that the Hampton Police Department is a Nationally Accredited Agency.

HHmmm...person of no importance...I'm sorry you feel you HAVE to work out at home because you are insecure with your body. I for one am overweight, but I work out on a regular basis at Gold's Gym in NN. I have been a member there for over 2 years now, and have NEVER been teased, tormented, picked on, harassed, or anything else there, by anyone, staff or member. If you belong to a gym that has members or staff that do that, you need to go to a different gym.

As for the 24 hour fitness place....it would be worth the consideration of joining if it were located in a better area (Coliseum Drive for one), not in the semi-ghetto area of Hampton. The only other 24 hour fitness I've ever seen is in Norfolk, in yet another "not-so-nice" area of town. They must cater to the ghetto thugs. I'll pass. I'm sure there are plenty of people who get off of work late in the morning who can't make it to Gold's or any other gym in this area, but who's going to go to a gym, with NO STAFF, at 3am??? I'd be scared. I'd also have a gun with me "just in case". We'll see how long this stays in operation.

Actually there is an Apple Computer store in MacArthur Center...but it would be nice if we could get an IKEA and the rest. As far as the gym..I think its a good idea but in a not so great area. With 24 hour gyms...you can go anytime and it is more convenient than the Y or Gold's Gym...especially if you have a crazy schedule. The only concern I have is crime...especially when going from your car to the gym and back to your car.

NO WAY! I dont like the idea of being in a fitness place with NO employees or security! You have no idea who is in the place with you and u just use a acess card to go in and work out??!!

I bet they will have more problems than they do sucess..
All it will take are a few pricks doing something and the whole place will be closed..
