That's what I thought too. I suppose that it could be household chemicals, as well. When it gets this hot outside, it very easy for items to combust and set fire. I suppose that we shouldn't convict the homeowner before we have all of the facts.

The only problem with that theory is it was in the low 60's this morning. It is still only 71 degrees at 1:50

However, being that this occured in Newport News, my vote goes to meth lab.

"An explosion in a garage..." "...the door of the garage blown off..."

Doesn't sound like a dryer fire to me...

i know these people. it was very much NOT a meth lab. your speculations are irresponsible and unkind to good people dealing with loss and trauma. and the Daily Press should think better of posting this type of damaging speculation.

This place is a few doors down the street from my house in the same development.

Not a Meth Lab, trust us all on that.

Natural Gas Waterheater, which every one has or improperly stored Gas are likely causes.

No the development in more like Cocktails at 5:30 PM, dinner at 6:30 PM, Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and Inherited Money.

There are no $55,000 households there.

LOL, I never really gave it much thought (which is pretty much an obvious understatement).

Are you inferring that meth labs only exist in 55K< homes, and not unassuming places such as this? Wake up. Your doctors, lawyers, engineers, and "inherited money" folks" are just as deceitful and devious and law breaking as the rest of us commoners. LOL

News said 10 cases of shotgun shells blew up....why would someone have that many shells in their house?
