You beat me to the punch, I was wondering the same thing. One can't help but wonder if downtown has an arsonist at work....scary thought.

In tough economic times it seems like there are a lot of unexplained fires.

I hope that the church is saved. There are good people living here amid this destruction.

Thank your husband for his service. I was watching this on channel 10 this morning and they showed a firefighter that had been up on a ladder for like 2 hours holding a hose towards the interior of the building. I sure couldn't do it. God bless.

Homeless and/or crack heads build fires to keep warm. Cold weather = more fires.

A more benign explanation could be that during these major cold snaps, people use substandard or inappropriate wattage portable heaters to keep pipes from freezing, and then ignite fires.

For the people that don't know anything about these stores that burned up OR the people working in them, shouldn't be giving their ignorant opinion. I know many of the people that worked there. Trying to make money and raise their children like everyone else. I was in shock when I woke to this news. I hope they find out what happened there. I am so sorry for the ones affected. Good people

Can you say God, he saved this church so they must be teaching GODS word. To those who do not believe in the Lord this I hope opens your eyes, in this time of desperation we all need the lord. Just ask him in and he will enter and he does not turn anyone away. Praise his wnderful name..

The people who make ignorant, anonymous comments in the face of a community strategy should simply be ignored.
I grew up in the neighborhood and have fond memeoreis of the grocery store, as its been at one time or another Giants, Be-Lo, Farm Fresh, etc. through the years. I grew up on Little Jimmys food and will sorely miss it. I even stop in whenever I am downtown to this day!
One of the greatest tragedies here is the sudden job loss for all the center's employees in this economy.
I am thankful the church was spared (can you remeber when it was a skating rink?), and also that all the firefighters were safe. But this is significant loss.

Here we go with an the thank you and slobbering for the fire man. Seriously, he gets paid for doing that job, gets 2 weeks off a month, retirement at 25. I should thank him?
