Spread the word.....

Effective immediately, all parking meters will be enforced from 8am to midnight, Monday through Saturday except holidays. Also effective immediately, the rate for all 10 and 12 hour meters will change to 25 cents per hour.

I would not know about that. I just know it was a good thing when the parking meters were from 8AM to 5PM. It helped a lot of folks park when they get home from work. Having to feed the meters until 12 midnight seems excessive to me in the residential areas where parking is a problem.

Hopefully, we will see the streets improved on the side streets. You cannot drive down a side street with coffee! You will be wearing it.

On March 3 I went to lunch at Newport on the Levee. There were plenty of parking spots available on Monmouth with meters. I tried two meters, each with 20 minutes on them so I added coins - and the time remained at 20 minutes. If the meters are three-hour meters why won't they accept change? My friend also tried two different meters and the same thing happened. I finally parked on another street without any meters as I was afraid to leave my car at a meter with only 20 minutes showing.

Please - if Newport wants to make money on meters, please fix them!

We knew you were coming, we rigged the meters to act that way when we saw you. The point is stay the hell on your side of the river, buckeye.

I find it interesting that post number two has been removed from this discussion......about the city skimming from the parking meters.

Grow up. Having others come into our city helps us all.
