Today I received a recorded call from Kelly Middleton in regards to school safety in Newport Schools. He stated that everything is being done to make sure that students and employees are safe. I think that there are alot of areas that need to be addressed.

Over the years I have been able to enter some of the school buidings through unlocked doors.

The Central Office does not have a buzz in security system at the front door. There have been many times, in the past, where the front door was unclocked and there was no one sitting at the front desk to acknowledge persons coming in the building. Anyone could have walked in. Many times the dock door is left unlocked during the day. Again, anyone could come in that way.

The ACES Center is the most unsecure building in the District. People can come and go into that location anytime during the day. Once they are in the building they can get into the Middle School just by going down a hallway.

There are many things that Mr. Middleton needs to address to keep our students and employees safe.

So true. Also the front offices in the schools do not monitor who enters and does not sign in and WHERE THEY ARE in the school. Once in they have freedom to roam.

Meant to say "door was unlocked" not "unclocked"!

Heck the ADO school always has the playground doors open. Anybody could jump the fence and get in there any time of the dang day.

Could you live with yourself if you failed to prepare, act, or report a possible threat that could result in harming a student, wife, husband, son, daughter, grandparent or co-worker. Administrators owe it to their students to be their first line of defense by educating yourself and making good sound decisions!

Is it true a parent was banned at the primary school from ALL school property on Friday? If so, why? I tried to get on that Facebook page but I can't get on.

Was there disgruntled parents, police, super involved and then the crybaby cries? Is this for real or a big joke?
