A sincere bigot for Christ, leading more sincere bigots for Christ. Just what the world needs. Born gay, don't look for compassion here. If you are looking for biblical orthodoxy, are you going to be keeping Kosher soon?

The ABC is now irrelevant. As you like to say, he isn't the Pope.

The sad irony is that this parish is ideally situated to serve LB's gay community. Instead, this parish has affirmatively acted to exclude the gay community...WWJD?

Affirming and excluding are two totally different things. The gay community will exclude themselves because this parish will not affirm their lifestyle.

No, he's not the Pope, although many Anglicans may choose him BUT TryAgain, he is the leader of Anglican COMMUNION.

Isn't that the whole bitch session with anti-TEC bigots, that they haven't to the letter followed some of the provisions called for by, say the Lambda conference?

Don't you need forign oversight to dismiss TEC as your denomination?

Only a 5 year old would say.'well, they're doing it why can't we".

Poor unhappy babies screaming for what they want and they want it now.

TIME OUT on the naughty spot..........

There are gay friedly and affirming churches in Long Beach where they interpret the Bible differently and skip the teachings that might "offend." You just have to find them. Heaven forbid anybody get offended by the word of God.

Like what?

Not rotating crops?

Offering your virgin daughters to be gang raped?

Wearing cotton blends?

Eating lobster?

Not that I want to offend any good fundamental literalistic interpretation.........

If you even understood Scripture that would be an amazing feat.

You know what, MW?

I don't think it would be a bad thing, at all, for the ABC to approve of a new Anglican group like this. But, he should allow TEC to approve of it with certain limitations. Let the "departers" (who are actually "stay-behinders") have their voice. They've got it now, anyway, and in fact, have always had it.

This is a free country. We in TEC are here because of it. We champion the rights of all to speak their minds and to worship as they see fit. So, why not?

The only caveat in all of this revolves around the validity of the acceptance of the Dennis Canon. If they accepted it and did not object to it when it was originally passed 20 years ago specifically for this purpose - did not file a formal protest to it - then they knew and understood the consequences. Their freedom to make that choice came and went.

Now that the consequences of their acceptance are coming home to them, they want to act irresponsibly and abscond with the real properties, investments and endowments that they have already committed to TEC of their own free will.

This, they should not do and should not be allowed to do. To try to take TEC Diocesan property and endowments with themselves as they depart is to openly detract from and undermine the very source of authority that they are claiming allows them to do this. It is very obviously hypocritical and a compromise of their integrity and principal.

Why any of their bishops fail to see this and understand the consequences of their behavior is baffling to me. It is like they really have no faith in their expressed beliefs.

They should just go and be glad to be gone - if they actually believe what they say they believe. When I was a kid, I remember we would call somebody who gave something with no strings attached and then came back later to take it back an "Indian-giver." Although this is no longer a politically correct moniker, it sure does describe how these self-righteous departing bishops and their supposedly adoring throngs are behaving.

But, the reality is that the Holy Spirit is moving TEC forward regardless of the desire of these detractors. Besides, they are always welcome to come and take communion and pray with us, anyway, right? Its on their heads, MW.

So, let them stay behind and feel safe in their bigotry, until they figure it out.

Just don't let them get away with acting like thieves without calling them onto the mat for it.

I don't think you understood what I wrote.

Long Beach has a diverse group living here and there are plenty of different churches where people can choose to worship with the comfort levele where they feel they fit best.

You caught my sarcastic side. Gay affirming churches skip those parts that people might find offensive, thus my comment.

Yes you should because you never use them here. Your one-line zingers, put downs, and general idiotic comments would never lead anyone to believe you have a middle school education much less multiple degrees.

Maybe a new degree you should pursue would be in anger management.

Thank you Bishop for taking the call. HE will use you greatly. There are many who stand with you.
Those who name call have bitterness in their heart, but our belief forgives those who wrongly abuse us.
May you be richly blessed in all you do for HIS sake.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
