I agree! Cannot believe anyone would do that. What purpose did it serve to sink it? I hope they restore it again, it was kind of a neat attraction for this area!

It is a dirty shame to ruin something for no good reason. But how about our Sheriffs Dept. for a quick investigation and arrest of the stupid ones that did it. Now, I don't see anything wrong with our sheriff and his people.Sheriff Lucas was out there and on the job the full time (not drinking coffee somewhere and letting his CHief Deputy do all the work)

I didn't read a section where anyone talked bad about the investigation! They did do a great, fast job at catching who did it! Did they ever tell who was dumb and stupid enough to ruin the Mary Woods?

If they are proven guilty,I hope they are prosecuted to the full extent, and the Judge holds no mercy on them. The Mary Woods was a piece of history that i wanted my kids, grandkids and great grandkids the see. That was an act of vandalism against everybody and the scumbags need to pay dearly.

This is a tragedy on so many levels. We have lost a historical treasure. We the taxpayers(who are already suffering due to the economy) will have to cough up the money to raise and restore it, while these 2 get free meals, room, and board that we also have to pay for! What is wrong with this picture people?

Richard Hall Rife, 30, of Newport and Paul L. Morrison, 49, of Gobles, Mich., told investigators they merely turned valves to sink the 157-ton steamboat,

These valves should have been disabled. I lay some of the blame on the park superintendent.

I wish they would throw both of these idiots in the icy cold White River for what they did. What a couple of dumbass mf's! Not telling how much money it will cost the taxpayers to restore it. Thousands of dollars......

Agreed!!!! They should have left it alone. They knew better...being that they are grown ass men. I think they should be the ones to pay to restore it..... They should have to work their asses off and even help with the restore.

they have to wait til the water goes down to pull it up.
Since they restored the first one then they will surely restore this one.
it is not the park's fault about the valves, they valeves are there for the boats purpose. Nobody would expect that someone would actually go down to the side of the boat and mess with it. It's very sad. It will come back up hopefully looking like it was. Just bring on mary woods 3. i bet mary wood's is turning over in her grave.
