I hear that Donna Cooper is no longer working for NPD as a result of getting caught jacking a guy off at Bailey's bar. Is this in fact true? Has anyone heard anything official from the Police Department about this? Why hasn't this scandal been covered by the local newspaper? I saw another post about this but there was not much detail in it.

Does anyone know details?

I guess NPD isn't the only ones with a sex scandal, since the feds have one of their own this week!!!

I am so disappointed in the Newport Independent. That paper doesn't report anything other than feel good stories and obituaries. I have yet to see any real news printed by them. The people in Newport are craving information about their community and I wish the paper would see that. There are so many things that happen in this community that do not get the attention that they should get.

LOL, I don't really think they would print a story about a cop doing that in a bar but I do agree with you, would be nice to hear about stuff in the area somewhere besides just on Topix.

Why are so many people bashing Donna? It isn't like all of you live perfect and live life like you are. The only difference between Donna and the rest of you is (if what is said is true) she got caught and you didn't. Think about it, how many of you have done something that you should not have done at the time or place it was done. If bashing her makes you feel better about yourself then you are a sad case. The last I heard there is not a perfect earth. An I do know Donna, she has always had the attitude she does not care what others think. Or that was the way she was when I worked with her.

And personally think what a person does on their time is non of the bosses business. I mean do we know what the boss is doing on his time

It's against the LAW to have sex in a public place, that is the problem most people have with it. If law officers are not required to follow the law and show some integrity, then why should the average citizen behave any different. Some progressions require you to behave in a manner that sets an example for others. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, the correct thing to do would be apologize for Miss conduct, be fined in some sort of way, and put on probation with the police dept. Then attempt to be a model citizen...if she can make that sacrifice, otherwise move on to a less public progression.

So true ! Donna messed up. She must accept she messed up, but like most im sure she is blaming another for her misconduct. No woman degrades themselves in public like she did. She is/was a law officer. She took an oath to uphold the law but in a bar comitting a felony. She was a Seargant she knew better ! I think NPD stood up and did their job for once... She is no longer employed by NPD !! GOOD RIDDANCE....

First of all you are right what a person does on their own time is their business. UNLESS OF COURSE YOU DO SOMETHING IN PUBLIC THEN ITS EVERYONES BUSINESS...

second yes we all have done some things that we are not proud of but I DOUBT VERY SERIOUSLY WE ALL HAVE DONE SEXUAL ACTS IN PUBLIC.
I know i have not.

Third - her attitude of not caring what others say or think about her could very well be the problem, C'mon seriously?? I dont normally care what others think or say about me either but i do know better than to disgrace myself by doing this in public.

With this behavior and attitude about the act it makes me wonder if NPD has their people to undergo a psychological examination to work on the force and if so how did she fair?

She may not care about what people say or think and that in itself is what makes the whole situation sad. Donna was a black female on a police force, that alone is a great accomplishment in any city. I know there were alot of little girls looking up to her- black, white and hispanic with the hope that they too could overcome the "norm" and be anything they wanted to be.

I seriously hope that the remark about her not caring what people think or say does not include all the little girls that she let down. Why would you do something this atrocious? This blatant just so you could say - I dont care what people think or say? Maybe if we as a society did care what others thought or said the morals of society would be better.

You know, if people spent a little more time giving a pat on the back to those who serve the public and do good things, just maybe they would realize how much what they do means to everyone and try harder to keep up a good image. Maybe Donna didn't realize so many young girls looked up to her. From what I see on this site is people always bashing the ones who will be there to help them when they need help, be it a fireman, paramedic, police officer, nurse, doctor or just your average Joe passing by.

I personally know several officers with the NPD i like seeing on patrol and appreciate what they do. But not her! In my book, shes a rascist hypocrit! My wife and i encountered her in Stage parking lot and she was very rude and only concerned about her precious P.O.S. Durango(she thought my door was TOUCHING her truck). Nothing she does or says will change my opinion of her.

yep and now everybody wants people to show her support ... Too comical ! I find it funny because the same ones backing her... Would be the same ones she would have arrested had they done what she did ! And be the first one telling who done it and how !

Donna is a good woman. I am sure that you all are about satisfied now that a black female is no longer employed. What is the problem with you all? So what she made a bad choice as we all have done and continue to do. Haven't tou beat this subject and her name down enough. How about this: post about the junk that you are doing or used to do. It is sad to see so many cowards on topix. Tell Donna or whoever you dislike to there faces rather than on a gossip site.

No... no... the difference between me and this woman is that I don't engage in sexual acts in A PUBLIC PLACE LIKE A BAR!!

Also I think that it is the bosses business... ask Coach Petrino if your private business can affect your employment. I think that businesses or the government should be able to hold their employees to whatever standard they choose. They have policies for this reason.

So, gossiping about the officer is not a sin in your eyesight? What happened with her or anyone else is not your business. Have you lived a pearly white life if so tell us about it. I sure have sinned and come short. Spreading gossip against others is just as bad. I'll bet you are a holy roller. Post your name please. We will get to compare sins hummmm. I like Donna and I feel sorry for the jaw yappers. God is over all and he is adding your sins up...to be more specific you are going to reap every negative word against Donna. She is the only one that will be responsible for her sins. Not the sinners on topix. I hope you are praying rather than being king/queen never sinned. You might have chosen to do your dirt in the dark, but God saw ya! It is no different. Did you witness her doing whatever? Leave her alone and think about how God loves her too....and you.
