In regard to Rep. RoseMarie Swanger's selfish decision to not give back the pay raise and use the money to give herself a tax break, the words infuriating and ironic come to mind. Full Story

And so it begins. Say one thing do another, where will it all end?

That's a little harsh, LTS dont you think?

What I want to know is why Swanger thought it worthy to play games when a long list of politicians including Citizen Mike gave it right back?

As a "liberal" I say who cares. Actually the charities here in Lebanon Co.(everywhere) are hurting. Thanks Marie for supporting them. Maybe some of these blogger should do the same.

The problem people have is she donated public money to a Christian Organization, that tends to infuriate people, thank you Randy for supporting charity, they need it more then the pencil sharpeners in the government offices.

Remember this when it comes time to pay taxes my friend. Also ask your representative what her moral justifiction is for governing you. Did you ever sign the social contract?

I think you got me wrong. Although I am familiar with Ayn Rand, I am no fan of her ideas. Let me put it this way. If you own property or rent, you were required to sign a mortgage or lease specifying the specific terms. When have you expressly given consent to be governed?

You are very confused. You don't have to sign a mortgage or lease specifying specific terms. Contracts and estates in land exist by virtue of the common law. The only reason we sign mortgages and leases is because of the statute of frauds. The statute of frauds is a creature of the legislature, i.e., a creature of government. So to the extent you have to sign anything for a contract, lease, or deed, it is because the government said you have to in order to enforce that contract, lease, or deed in court, i.e., the judicial branch of the government. As you can see it is all very circular. Social contract is an interesting theory, useful in analyzing from whence we came and how we got here. But it ain't real John Locke.

Thank you for pointing out my error. I actually was referring to any contractual agreement.
