This story claims that the Schaefferstown and Myerstown schools will CLOSE in 2010. That's funny, according to ELCO solicitor, the District has not decided what they are doing with the two elementary schools. The District claims to be only vacating the two schools, not closing them. By using the word VACATE, they can get around certain sections on the PA School Code. Nice, huh.

I love how PA School Code doesn't apply to everyone. There is something seriously wrong with this system.

Why does ELCO need a new school building if they are not closing two elementary schools? Someone please explain this to me.

But get this (straight from the mouth of the ELCO Superintendent)... ELCO will hold 780 hearings on the school(s) "closing", if they decide to close them, after the new intermediate school is built. Think about that one.

Anyone questioning these facts, send me an email and I will send you a copy of the letter from the PA Dept. of Education, with the ELCO statements.

FACTS:
Vacate = Close.
Close = violation of section 780 of the PA School code, without the proper public hearings.

Wake up people!

Change is coming, vote BOYER, GARDENER, HOUTZ, and MARK on May 19th! It's what's best for the residents, it's what's best for the children.

Remember the Primary is May 19th, vote BOYER, GARDENER, HOUTZ and MARK!

They are all independent thinkers and have a vested interest in ELCO. They each have their own area of expertise and interest. They care about the education of our children and will work hard for the residents. They have vowed to listen to the residents of this district and make informed decisions.
