What many residents might not know is that when S-town closes and is abandoned or tore down. The community loses its only playground, one of its baseball fields and its tennis courts. Don't think so? Who would assume the liability?
To all the parents that built the play structure all those years ago, your work has been purposely neglected.I hope you are happy with what the school district really thought of your dedication to your kids. We had a board mulling idiotic astro turf for high school kids sports but couldn't be bothered to maintain a playground.
Another thing to keep in mind. No more release time for the elementary kids. No more walking to brownies after school. No more class plays.
You are getting a warehouse whether you want it or not.

Here is a quote I have heard many times while growing up. I am sure many of you have heard it also. It goes something like this: "I had to walk five miles to school. Uphill. Barefoot. In the snow." This coming from our great grandparents who used outhouses because it was the "technology" of their time. I have told my children, many times, that as I was growing up, we didn't have cell phones, computers, and iPods. I played after-school sports and wore my brothers' hand-me-down sneakers and work-out shorts for practices and games (and I'm a girl, so imagine that!). I tell them that I didn't have nearly what they have yet I turned out OK.

The thing is, our grandparents lived in a different time as us 40 somethings, as do our children go to school in a different time as I did.

I can only imagine how freaked out parents were years ago when their children were introduced to the bussing system when all the parents knew was trudging those snow drifts barefoot.

In the late 70's ELCO High did not offer College credit courses. I am thankful they do now as my sons have benefitted from them. They earned the college credits without having to pay for them in college (a HUGE savings to my/their pocketbook!). We didn't have personal computers, we used typewriters and you basically had three choices when picking your courses: Business, Vo-Tech (currently the CTC) and College.

Progression comes whether we are ready for it or not. The physicality of the buildings, the inventions of new technologies, and the teaching dynamics change too. I, for one, am pretty satisfied with how ELCO has progressed and I want that progression to continue.

I don't know who you are Lincroft, NJ, but I have a pretty good idea. Why not post using your real name? You know why and I know why. Those of us with truth on our side tell you who we are. You are a sad sad person.

And to set the record straight, Phil didn't have to run because he's working side by side with those who are running. It's a true grass roots effort.

Now for some hard facts that the Daily News chose not to print today. The four candidates that are running for the residents of ELCO, Boyer, Gardener, Houtz, and Mark, filed 192 different petitions containing over 2000 total signatures. That's fifty times more than required. How many did the incumbents get? About 85 combined.

Now that would be a smart move. Leaving the board in charge by people who wasted how much money in legal bills? SOS = Same Old Suckers.

To late, it's gonna happen. And they have no one to blame but themselves.

Once again you try to spin the "legal bills" and avoid the reason and right to challenge elected officials bad decisions.

Legal bills equal a few thousand dollars ... unnecessary new building (to feed egos) equals over 18 MILLION DOLLARS.

Get your facts straight and stop making up new alias names to post. Come clean, you're not that smart.

And ... you're creative new ways of using SOS ... not really that good. Actually, kinda lame.

But back then if you had a handicap child they would not go to school...they would be put in an institution. They would not have the opportunity to get an education. Now if you can't walk up and down stairs because of a disabilty, you can get an education and be treated as an equal. That is the difference.

Three Amigos, LOL ... all I see is the movie poster. Maybe we could get them to dress like that for the next Board meeting. How funny would that be?

I may have to do some Photoshop work this afternoon. Board member picture from the ELCO Web site, plus a Google image search for the Three Amigos Movie poster ... priceless :-)

Eighty Six -- you seem to have an awful lot of free time on your hands. You post here 24-7.
Maybe you should be running for the board since you have all the answers.

I only post at lunch and late at night. Except Friday afternoons because my office closes at 11:30. Thought about running, but wasn't going to run and then not be able to make every meeting. My business schedule is too unpredictable. Just so you know, because you seem so interested in me personally.

Yes, thanks.
No, not this year.

You, not so clever. You just keep making up new names to post under. Why not try using your real one. Oh, but we can't do that now can we ;-)
