The whole fireworks legislation is just another case of the government legislating for children, and thus making all citizens its own children. Proper parenting prevents children from firework injuries, the government should place accountability back with parents and remove their hands from everything

It's called job security from legislators on down to the policeman. When there are no more laws to pass they look to make laws that are unconstitutional protecting people from themselves. I moved out of my parents home and from under their blanket of security only to get a whole bunch of new parents. Only the rules have multiplied by the millions and make absolutely NO SENSE. These protectionist laws have NO PLACE in a FREE SOCIETY!!! Blumenthal should just stick to what he is best at; being corrupted and turning his blind eye to the crimes that are committed to benefit him and his agenda.

Get a clue wrote: <quoted text> Sure thing m0r0n - take each and every case where somebody was injured by use of fireworks by non-professionals and you've got your proof. No, that would not be statistical evidence. You'd have to know the number of people who use fireworks to have any basis of comparison, which is nearly impossible when they are illegal. With a name like "get a clue", you should heed your own advice

But because somebody is stupid and reckless with something, it does not mean that something should be made illegal. Unless your name is Richard Blumenthal anyway. The guy's a joke.

This is SAD! The government continues to make laws invading our rights and halting traditions. Safety is always a factor when handling fireworks and it is the parents obligation to keep their children safe and teach them safe practices. My kids will enjoy fireworks this year as they have in years past and they will learn what the 4TH of July stands for and why we light fireworks. Happy 4th everyone!

Use of fireworks is a distinctive extension of a person's character. I had a friend in high school, completely unremarkable until he blew off a hand and suffered a partial loss of eyesight using fireworks.

I just find it ironic that fireworks are banned but firearms are not.

Don't blame the State Police - they are only enforcing all of the crap laws that our beloved Legislature has seen fit to inflict on us.
REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER, and vote for an entirely new slate of Representatives and Senators.... every incumbent MUST GO.
