We find the lowest prices and a clean store at Price Rite in New Britain, Wethersfield is nice to. If we need something after hours we go to Price Chopper or Stop & Shop.

I do Stop & Shop. While prices aren't like Price Chopper, I like the product selection.

Shaw's bites the big one.

We like Aldis, they only carry their own brands, but...when you can get a carton of eggs for $1.28, it's worth the trip. They carry mostly canned, packaged foods, frozen types, but also have their own meats which are cheap, some fresh veggies too. There is one in Rocky Hill CT next to Kohls department store. You have to bring a quarter for a shopping cart, but you get it back when you plug the shopping cart in front of it into the one you are returning. You also should bring your own shopping bags as you will be bagging your own items.

They're building one of those in Newington.

Should give Shaws a run for their money.

What is wrong with Shaw's? The inside of the store can use an update, but their a decent store.

Another question: Do you think another supermarket will replace Food Mart in the center of Newington? If so what do you think would work there?

They don't carry half the stuff others do.

Or they'll introduce a product, let it sell out and never restock it again.

Or they'll just let a product run out and never restock it again.

They price their brands higher than the name brands.

Usually, a store's private brand is lower than the name brand, not the other way around.

I heard Highland Park, or Geissler's or Big Y, but that all fell through, because that cheapo land lord wants too much $$! I would love to see a Trader Joe's go into Newington, it would be convienient, don't get me wrong the one in West Hartford is great and the people who work there are helpful and very nice. The store is also pretty clean and the prices are great too. So we mostly do our shopping at Joe's, but once in a while we'll either go to Shaws or Price Chopper or Stop n Shop. Once in a blue moon, we'll go to Whole Foods and I love going to A Dong to get my Japanese snacks.
