Driver named in fatal semi-bridge crash in Wis.

The driver killed when his semitrailer slammed into an overpass abutment has been identified as 38-year-old Jay Freeman Schoenberner of South Dakota.

Unfortunately Jay is not here to tell us what happened. Looking at his log book will not bring him back to his family. Saying he fell asleep is a speculation based on nothing at this point. Don't jump to conclusions when you weren't sitting in the seat next to him. We'll miss you Jay. My prayers to his family.

i new very well he and talked to him at 9am he was a was not sleepy but happy to be driving.so stop saying he was sleepy thare was no beter driver.no more ok he was a good guy

He was more than likely run off the road by some Idiot in a car that was not paying attention to what they were doing. Of course they kept going afterward. I see this all the time after 31 years of driving a truck. Or maybie the roads were slick.

While driving he did not drink, smoke, OR SLEEP! from my knowledge, he called my grandma (his mom) that morning and told her how happy he was to have this new job... yes that was his first, and last, load with Te Slaa trucking... now i know your thinking "oh talking on the phone huh?" well he had a wireless bluetooth headset ok? so dont judge before you know. show some consideration... this is coming from me, my brother, my sister, and the rest of his family and friends.

I'm sorry for your loss and I am sorry you have to read such negative comments, I drove past after the accident had occurred and all I could do was cry and I did not even know Jay (your father). Again I am sorry and wish people would have some compassion. May God bless and be with you and your family

U are right he did talk to grandma that morning and he also talk to my dad (his brother) he was happier than ever to be driving again
