Twinkiemasu? Need you say more....If the food's anything like it is at Mad Mex, I'd rather eat vomit that check it out.

I thought the food was good but when I got the check and the waitress informed me I had to pay my bill rounded to the nearest nickel, I was annoyed. I won't go back. The establishment might not believe in pennies, but I don't believe in rounding.

Then round down and let them pick up the difference.

Rounded to the nearest nickle??? Is this place for real? Ohhhh, they don't know how to do basic math. How sad. My hubby and I won't be trying out that place. Round to the nearest nickle, indeed. Hey! They could work for Gov. Rendell!

When I waited tables, I always rounded to the nearest dollar. But ALWAYS in the customer's favor. But thats mostly cuz I didn't like effing around with change. And I almost always ended up getting it anyway.

Hmmm, soooo, how can a bill be changed? I'm trying to understand. Really. I also worked in a restaurant. I found putting in the tax to be annoying! grrrrrrrr Talk about change!! Ugh!! Since, obviously, it does occur, I appreciate reading your post that at the very least you rounded it in favor of the customer. I can tell you that, when I'm treated w/ respect by say a waitstaff, I return...and I tell others : D

If your bill was 35.66 and you gave me $40, I would give you back a $5.

Ahh hah. Soooo, where were you hiding when my hubby and I could have used that additional change, my dear, eh? Just kidding. My children take us out...or, more correctly, we eat at their homes. How refreshing, though, to read that you, not only did that; it was okay with the management. We were not allowed. I don't even recall that it came up in the conversation. Oh well; that's all water under the bridge. I'm enjoying my latest grandchild too much to fuss about anything : D That's grandchild #7 with # 8 due the end of January. Now, this is non-fattening "sugar!"

I'll bet their registers round for convenience. Most can do that using the 5/4 method. It isn't a lack of math skills. I can't believe anyone would get all balled up about this. If the possibility of losing 2 cents upsets y'all so much, maybe ya shouldn't live in the burbs and drive big Buicks and SUVs. ;-)

Oh, and kudos to Mr Pickle for effecting what's known as the "5-Block" with that change example!
