I know that you use "liberal" to label things you don't like, and "conservative" to label things you do like. But those words have meanings beyond being a compliment or insult. Conservative means "if it was good enough for my pappy, it's good enough for me" and that change should be resisted. Liberal means the belief that tomorrow can be better than yesterday, and that change is sometimes good.
Most people start as being more liberal, and become more conservative with age. Reagan was no exception.
I guess everybody has their own interpretation.

To me, liberal means more socialism and more government. Conservative to me means less government and more people taking care of themselves. Liberal means less responsibility while conservative means more responsibility.

Awwww lookie. Racist boy wants a cookie for going to work. He thinks we all own houses and have our cars paid for because he is the only person who works or pays taxes. Look at that fat boy sit on that truck seat and turn that wheel. Let us know if you need some help pushing those pedals all by yourself. Ahhh ha ha ha ha ha ha! If I quit and never worked another day, and you worked until you were 100, I'd still have worked 10 times more than a fat trucker. Thank me when you are sucking on that government SS tit.
Yeah, you liberals here really have me fooled. You all have jobs where you can sit on Topix all day or a job at home where you make excellent money.

The wonderful thing is that just about all liberals on Topix work from home or have some alternative income where they don't have to work at a job. Yet they all support Cradle-to-Grave government and more taxes to the producers of our society.

Yeah, I believe that. LOL!

Without strawmen and clichés, you would have nothing to say. But I guess I understand how it makes you feel better about being a fetch boy if you can generate fantasy stories about those who have managed to make independent lives for themselves all the while being leftist to boot. You need to feel like your "conservatism" means something.
I guess I can understand how it makes you feel better by cutting down working people as if you actually created income of your own. No, government goodies is not creating income of your own.

See? You just can't do it. You need to create a negative image in your mind of who a liberal is in order to further your fantasy of what liberals believe in. Rush has killed any brain cells that the diesel exhaust didn't already.

You do realize that some people have jobs in offices where they have desks and on those desks there are computers and in between meetings and phone calls and emails and so forth, they can take a peek at what the wingnuts are saying on Topix. And some people also have phones that have connections to the interwebs so they can check on you wingnuts when they are away from their homes or offices while they are waiting in a waiting room or are otherwise a little bored. It's a crazy world out there beyond your crippled imagination.

That might explain some of it. But on the other hand, I see people posting here all hours of the morning during the work week as well. I can't be on this thing 2:00 am on a Tuesday morning. I have to get some sleep for work the next day. Because of my work schedule, I can't even stay up that late on weekends or even vacation. I have to keep my work time schedule.

I also know (from discussions with our customers) that most companies have spyware on their computer systems just for that reason. I have a cousin that's a supervisor for a bank office. Part of his job is to find employees using their company computers for personal reasons. First time is a warning. Second time is a suspension. Third time is termination. Most companies don't put up with that nonsense.

One or two people? Yes, I can understand that. But every single liberal on Topix? No, I don't think that's the case.

That's a start. Now consider that there are these easily portable computers called laptops that a person could use so that a company owned business wouldn't be involved. There is a whole world beyond your deliveries and extended family. Some people need less sleep than others too. It's crazy.

So you think that companies are so permissive to not only allow employees to bring their laptop to work, but to walk into work looking like hell warmed over because of lack of sleep and then allow them to screw around on their own personal computer????

What kind of businesses are you talking about here that have no supervision of their employees? I don't know of such a business........at least not a successful one.

And how are these employees connecting to the internet without their employer knowing? Do they have laptops that allow them to have a connection to their personal internet at home??? That's quite a distance, wouldn't you say?

You are correct on one thing, and that is there is a whole world you wouldn't know anything about sitting at home all day. I deal with employees every day. I deliver and pickup at work places every day. Nobody is sitting on their computer (laptop or company) on Topix.

Well, one thing you have made perfectly clear is that if you haven't seen it in your small, sheltered world, it doesn't exist.

You can't help but to load your words to always make it a good/bad scale, and (in your world) conservative always equals good.

"Liberal" and "conservative" are strategies for living your life. Most successful people incorporate both into their lives. Neither one is good or bad. A conservative investor favors bonds and more secure instruments. A liberal investor takes a chance on riskier investments, like stocks. Most savvy investors combine the two.

Another way to look at the question is geographically. A conservative person is less likely to move, and probably still lives within 60 miles of where they were born. A liberal person thinks there may be better opportunities in the larger world.

These are not simple good/bad differences. They are choices that we make.

I was speaking in a purely political sense and not a personal one.

I see bad in conservatism as well, just not nearly as much as liberalism. After all, we basically have two political parties. One party thinks they can legislate morality and the other thinks they can legislate mortality. The problem as I see it is you can't successfully legislate either.

But if we had only one choice to make, which would be better for our country and society? And what I mean by that is taking the good and the bad which is something many politicians don't consider when creating law--especially the liberal side.

Yeah, because if someone works different hours than you do, AND they have the audacity to disagree with a racist, chain smoking paperboy on Topix, they're obviously an unemployed liberal. Right???

We'll just need to get a list of approved work hours from the diabetic pack mule, since he obviously knows what's best for everyone. After all, I don't want my schedule to interfere with a racist trucker's preconceived notion of reality...

Racist trucker? You mean Eric Holder is delivering loads of firearms himself to mexican drug gangs? What is he driving an old ford with a an automatic transmission out of a 1979 school bus so as not to attarct attention in the Southwest?
