I think it's time to get the snow fence out, RT 416 and Rt 16 are always drifted shut, while I do understand using it now will not help, but why did they stop putting them up?
Bigger & better equipment, more expensive labor, and less severe (LOL) snowstorms...

Regarding Upper Strasburg Road being closed, I certainly know that it was closed this morning. I'm not sure when it was opened but there were only three places around 4:30PM where it was down to one lane of traffic, also two cars stuck in drifts. I passed a crew clearing the bigger of the two areas remaining on my way into town just around the time this article was posted. When I came back from Chambersburg a little before 6PM the crew had that drifted area all but cleared. One of the cars had a few people digging it out and appeared to be making good progress.

It annoys me that people, myself included, were expected to be at work yesterday and today throughout this mess. If I hadn't left work early yesterday morning I probably would not have made it home! Upper Strasburg road was drifting over badly at just 9AM, who knows what it would have been like at 3PM! I just don't understand how you preach safety safety safety to your employees then tell them they'd better get their butts to work in a blizzard...

I was driving around this morning, and around 6:30 or so, this is a few of the roads I noticed.
Pioneer (near intersection where Valley Camp Road is)- impassable to the right.
St Thomas / Williamson - passable, but sections have only one lane open
Appleway - Blocked off at Diehl Woods intersection
Loudon Road - Didn't go down this way, but was stopped by a guy who said that crews were supposedly working on that road.

Those of you throwing verbal stones at the twp crews need to back off. You'd be the first to raise a fit if the taxes were raised to fund more workers/equipment. St. Thomas is a small twp so we are talking maybe 5 workers to plow all the roads. It's going to take time. Did you ever think that the workers were focusing on getting the stranded sightseers out before focusing on the normal priorities. Don't blame the twp because you ran out of cigarettes and booze.

If you want to go to town so bad get a shovel and start shoveling. We was warned this storm was coming rihgt for us so why didnt you go to town get what you need before it hit ? As far as the twp goes there is only so much they can do and they was helpping those who was stranded in the storm. Give them some credit. Most employers understand when you live in the country. My employer was shocked to even see me today because I live on RT 30 .
So prepare yourself this weekend, we have snow coming Sunday nite into Monday and Monday nite into Tuesday it is not to be anywhere as bad as this one but it will only take the wind to change and we could be dumped on once again! Brase yourself for the STORM on Satuday! So rush to the grocery get what you need because this one could be like the one we just got if not worse! I shoveled my way out. I had HUGE drifts. It takes some time but I didnt whine and cry I knew if I wanted out I had to do it myself because the twp and penn dot wasnt going to be here anytime soon!
