Why were the comments removed from the other thread? Sometimes the comments are the only way we the public find out what is really going on. Do we not have the right of free speech or are we too simple to think for oursleves? The Topix forum is not a part of the Public Opion, merely a subscriber service. Some of the topix posts in other papers are bordering on sput, lies, liable and slander, yet they are still published. Sometimes our forum is like trying to use Google in China.

I agree. We should be allowed to discuss the article. Where did the comments go?

Yes, where did the comments go? Did you notice that when the Runyon woman was found dead the last week of February, no one could post comments to that particular story? Perhaps the P.O. is CENSORING in anticipation of a hotly debated and commented-upon story.

Maybe the paper doesn't want to be sued for libel if a reader makes a false allegation. These are sensitive subjects.

Maybe it's because people are unable to censor themselves and say things that are untrue and insensitive to the people that are involved with them.

No, It's just to prevent Cumberland Valley idiots from post stuff that will lead to law suits. Maybe if you cleaned up your act, they would keep your posts. But I doubt it.

Do you really think a newspaper could be sued for careless comments by heartless posters? The uninformed individual, who can be identifified by ISP, is at risk. You are not anon when you post. Don't think that you are safe because you are posting on an office computer. A New Jersey woman was recently fired after a supervisor noticed her screename on an office computer. An investigation could lead to you losing your house. The PO probably drops threads out of respect for family when comments are juvinile and sophmoric in favor of dark humor. I suppose it's tough to teach ignorant people to be respectful. Just take a look at any forum about POTUS, Cops or Hispanics.
