I doubt Mrs. Garman would consider her pain, suffering and losses "frivolous".

It's very easy to critique from the sidelines, but look at the date of this pending case...1990's people! It's 2010 and think of how many surgeries Dr. Raschid has performed without complications since then. As a former patient of his, I know he genuinely cares about each patient and has very high standards. He is truly the best doctor I have ever had. He is no longer practicing at Potomac... I miss him very much as my doctor. Because he left Potomac, I stopped going there as well. I now go to a practice in Chambersburg...the level of care doesn't even come close to how Dr. Raschid handles his patients. I keep saying he spoiled me because now I think all OBGYN's should treat their pateints with the respect and dignity that he showed me.
It is a shame what happened with Kelly... I wish her the very best. However, I do not think it's right for people to bash Raschid when he has done so much good for so many others. Doctors are humans too...mistakes happen. That is how people learn and grow.
sound like you now miss how he "handles his patients". Sure do, don't you?

If I'm reading this right, the sponge was left in during a surgery that Raschid performed. So why are the other 2 dr's being sued?

I was also a patient of Dr. Rachid. For years I suffered with severe abdominal pain and swelling to the point I looked very, very pregnant. I had several surgeries: tubal, left ovary,uterus...he wanted to leave my right ovary because i was too young and needed estrogen, but the problem and pain was reoccuring. When my right ovary was removed, he actually descovered my bowel was wrapped around it ( SURPRISE....he was rooten around in there 4 times, not including all the pap smears), had to get a 6 inch bowel recession!!!problem finally solved...i could have still had all my female parts and not have to take estrogen for the rest of my life. my daughter in-law had him for a Dr. also, although he was in the hospital, on the same floor and paged numerous times, the nurse delivered the baby.

I think this is a sad ordeal and I hope that the woman involved does get justice for the wrong doing that they have cause her! However, I was a patient of Dr.Raschid's and I wouldn't trust anyone else to deliver my children. I have 3 and were all born C-section and the care and compassion that he showed me was tremendous. I couldn't imagine going to any other doctor and in fact would never go to another doctor as far as an OBGYN. I also believe that the comment made earlier about the situation with his wife is ridiculous to bring up! What happens in his personal life is HIS business, and NEVER is it ok to hit a woman, but that doesn't have anything to do with how he is professionally. Personal Life and Business life should be separate. This is just one of those mistakes where you need to take the consequences and move on. He is still a GREAT physician!
What the wife comment has to do with it, is that if you would disrespect your wife enough to hit her, you have no business being a "woman" doctor. I wouldn't even consider going to him.

Oh ok I get it now....so for the millions of woman beaters out there, they should never be allowed around their mothers, or grandmothers, or daughters because if you do it to your wife then obviously you will do it to them? Wrong! Whatever happened between him and his wife is their business. He was always very nice and gentle and very concerned about my pregnancies, and showed no aggressive behavior at all! I think instead of focusing on the issues with his wife they should stick to story hand and deal with that. He needs to pay for what he did because there is no excuse for something like that to happen to and innocent person, but as far as being a doctor and human being, it could have happened to any other physician and I am sure it has more than we know.

I commend Chambersburg Hospital for finally doing something logical. Dr Rashid no longer has privledges there.
Yes, I was surprised to even read about this in a newspaper! It is true also, most cases ARE settled out of court, for every one we read about, there must be tens, and those are JUST the ones that decide to go after the physician/staff/institution.

Rashid no longer has privileges? Hmmm, that's interesting, and therefore, I would drop him like a hot potato.

Lastly, his supporters here, who would they really be??? Oh, I'm counting on your veracity, so can anyone point to the lack of privileges by this doctor/surgeon at Summit Health?

Something I would expect from Raschid. Never my doctor, have heard way too many horror stories about him. I hope the Garman's get what they are asking for.

Raschid subjected me to an unnecessary procedure in his office in the 1990s. It was painful and he belittled me for making noise. I was not warned ahead of time of what he was doing. It was just totally unprofessional. His decision then was that I needed a hysterectomy. At less than 40 years old, I wasn't about to settle for that. I went to another doctor, who did a noninvasive exam, found the problem, and it was treated simply with birth control pills. I have warned people to stay away from him ever since.

First off, Dr. Raschid is only named in this law suit because he was the acting surgeon. Secondly, he was NOT found guilty of neglagence, why you ask? Because it is the NURSES responsibility to count the sponges, NOT the doctors, apparently the jury agreed. You people whining & complaining about this particular incident are not only ignorant to the facts but you're also cruel for speaking this way about something you really have no clue about. Especially you,'summithealthrn' & 'Their Pants are on Fire' Dr. Raschid's privileges were NOT taken from him at Chambersburg Hospital, in fact, no disciplinary action is being taken against him, period. He is on leave until mid April due to him not being able to be on call during the re-opening of his office. Get your facts straight before you speak, otherwise, you end up looking like an 'ass' due to your 'ass'umptions. One thing i do agree with you about is your comment on 'chambersburg hospital finally doing something logical' indicating that they are not a logical medical institution, but I guess that is a different forum, huh. There is always someone to blame for 'accidents' just make sure you take the truth and logic into account first. These are the FACTS so, yes, I would say you or anyone else can count on my 'veracity' and I, and many other women, are his supporters!

Wow, I read this and first and foremost I feel sorry that this happened to someone. I think people should stop being so judgemental. How many times does stuff like this happen and you never hear about it. Very sad that the names of the three physicians have to be drug through the mud like they are the only ones who have made an error. It is human error, we are not perfect. Dr. Raschid has been my physician since I was 18 and I am 34 now. I have never had a physician who has been kinder or cared more about me. He delivered two babies which were high risk for me and also one more. He got me the help I needed as I went through a divorce. Say what you may but there are tons of patients whom love and respect him. There are many woman praying that he stays in the area. Leaving Potomac OB was a good decision and I wish him the best. As far as the domestic issues...there are two sides to every story. He was never charged in the incident. Dr. Raschid if you are reading this you have so many people who care about you. I am absolutely one of them. I understand that accidents happen. You are not the last physician that is going to make an error over a very lengthy career. Sleep well tonight knowing nothing anyone can say on this will change my mind about you.

Do you know, the alleged charges were dropped by his wife !! Everyone's personal life should not be exploited. He has been my physician since 1990 with performing 2 deliveries, including 1 c-section and 2 surgeries without complications. He is by far one of the most professional and talented physicians in chbg.

Not sure where you obtained your information but his priviledges have not been revoked.

By the way, you might want to double check the spelling of his last name. It is spelled RASCHID :)

get your facts straight before you open your mouth lady. This case does not involve Raschid. The one he was involved went vto the state supreme court where he won the verdict.
The charges against him by his scorned wife was dropped. Innocent ubtil proven guilty lady
