The people behind the empress are racist. All the events are set up for rich people. Vallejo is full of poor and poorer people who cannot afford to attend anything at the Empress.

dont get too excited

vallejo was given a world music festival for free off the backs of a lot of volunteers and hard earned money and had to pay way too much to a city and populace recieving a gift that imported people and lots of money into vallejo to spend

the gift was confirmed momentum that improved vallejo's image, had all kinds of people, all ages hanging out peacefully enojoying good music and times - this is priceless

but, whomever is really in power and controls vallejo didnt get it and are the true losers

ironic, this festival was most well recieved by the VPD who Overstood everyone wins when there is no violence or liability or problems. much respect to VPD

these other efforts are brief attempts in the dark and wont win in the long run as there continue to be too many problems unresolved in vallejo and vallejo downtown

the possibilities are incredible, but too good to be true

the empress theater re-opened in very early 80's pre-remodel was just fine and a known cool spot that allowed young people to watch good movies and get into the artwork of film-making, despite vallejo

but then there is so much good despite vallejo, is the part of vallejo that is allbad called 'spite vallejo'?

all real estate investors, agents, brokers, speculators, bankers that knowingly participated in the housing collapse should be flogged publicly on 4th of july, near downtown, that might help the biz of a micro-brewery

That is good ...... free. Hopefully free = more patrons for other events because "free" doesn't pay the bills. I will say the upper balcony seats are pretty uncomfortable. Pretty small area to sit in (no knee room) for any event lasting more than an hour.

Racist? Against whom? And sad sack of woe, last night was freeeee, the S.F. Chamber Orchestra was freeee.
You just sit there in your La-z Boy and whine yourself to sleep, k?
Here's what's coming up:
Romantic comedy & first-ever film to capture all 5 major Oscars: IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (Clark Gable, 1934)
Dolphy, Filipino King of Comedy, in "Nobody, Nobody But Juan" - Movies in Tagalog
VOENA, internationally acclaimed children's vocal ensemble, in concert to support the homeless
"Sunday Afternoon At The Empress" an Area Agency on Aging Benefit Event
Hepburn & Bogart: The greatest romance film -- THE AFRICAN QUEEN
FREE Classical Music--San Francisco Chamber Orchestra
I was at the last show, ALL White people, NO Blacks, NO non whites. The Empress is for White people only. You better have money or you won't be able to afford the Empress.
