I am an upcoming senior at DHS, and I think that this is a great school. Our football team was excellent last school year - we almost made it to the state championships. I think your son will enjoy this school because it offers a high level of education and our football team is great. Our school will prepare him for college.

well, i attend dyerburg high right now. yes, i do believe it could be better. and all of yall are right. its just not for some people. it honestly depends on where all of their friends are. all of my friends went to dyer county and i practically had to make all new ones. but, if they are going to be a new student anyway, it doesnt matter. you should let your child pick where they think they would be happier. we do have a wonderful football team. our team has went to the play offs almost every year and we are counting on going this year. there are many great atheletic programs too. i should no because im a cheerleader there and i love it. so, go ahead send your kid to dc, and lett them miss all the great opportunities of dburg!

Hi. Name's Kasey I go to Dyer County. :)
its a really awesome school, other than the drama that goes on, but there is an ACT prep class, and even AP classes.
The staff is really nice and you'll get a good education from dchs. the Drama program is also really nice and we have band and choir as well.
I am a junior, and I plan on going to college for Journalism, and next semester I plan on taking Creative writing.:)
and our football rocks :) we beat ripley this past friday with 58-0

I live in caruthersville and went to chs last year. i started at dyersburg this year as a sophomore. the difference is unbelievable. I've learned more in the past couple of months at dyersburg than i ever learned at caruthersville. Granted, caruthersville was more fun considering we never went to class. we skipped every day and no one cared. no offense to caruthersville teachers, they are doing the best they can with what they have. it's just that the majority of the quality of students at caruthersville are just wanting to live the rest of their lives with a highschool diploma that they barely snuck by with. if you are wondering whether or not to send your child to dhs, i give it a definate yes!

It is my understanding that MANY parents are pulling their kids out of the city schools and sending them to the county. The teachers are fed up and leaving too. Just what I've heard from several of my friends that still live there.

I am not a dyer county resident, but I was adament about sending my daughter to DCHS. She loves the school and so do I. You can find negative things to say about both dhs and DCHS or any school for that matter. As a mother who drives several miles each day so my daughter can attend DCHS, I have been pleased. It is well worth it. After reading some of the comments posted by some of the dyersburg students, I am happy my daughter goes to to DCHS. By the way, Redneck is how dyersburg acts at the basketball games. Anyone who attended last boys basketball game can see that.

If he wants to play football then the place to go is DHS.Coach COunce is the best of the Best, yes he is hard on his squad, but he is the best. The school is great.I went from 1998-2001.DCHS is probably to far for you to drive. We had 2 10-0 seasons and went to the semi finals

NotI wrote: Dyer Co. is for rednecks. If your child is a redneck then send him to Dyer co. if not send him to dhs This is a very childish response. If your statment was true I would lump DHS in there also. You live in rural Tennessee!!! In your mind D'burg maybe a big city but it isn't. There is more to life my friend than driving your car up and down lake road on the weekend. I no longer live in West Tennesse and when I return there to visit my family I feel that my home town is slowly disapearing. There is a large number of people in the area that are unemployed, drug use is rampant and jobs are leaving faster than they are generated. It is really sad that your children will most likely have to leave Dyer County in order to have a career other than that of a factory worker. Both schools are excellent and I would have no worries sending my child to either of these schools.

Here it goes, coming from a DHS high school senior.....
DHS is way better compared to DCHS. Our teachers care more, we have shorter classes, our test scores prove better than theirs....there are so many other things to say.
About "Anom"'s post about the sports scores, basketball isn't really something to brag about, and one year of winning one game of football isn't anything big either.
DHS is my school. My friends and I love it. Why not give it a chance.

well princess if you noticed in my post i never said anything negitive about dhs .actually i am a graduate of dhs , class of 81. but now dhs is getting close to fifty years old , dchs is getting close to ten . as for the teachers caring any more well i dought that ,not sure what short classes has to do with better education . and like you i could go on .i never mentioned basketball or football ,but hey dont forget about baseball too. i have had one child graudate from dchs and another one will in a couple of years .both played football ,both enjoyed it very much . so, give a chance before you decide.

DHS is a well-balanced high school education, although if you are really going to push your son, the guidance department generally slacks off with anyone not striving for the norm. If you going for above average, it's still a good school--you are just going to have to do your own work on top of what the school offers.
DHS did a decent job of preparing me for a top tier school.

DHS is the way to go, you gain more knowledge than u would at DCHS because the classes are easier. I graduated from DHS in 07. Im in the military right now but from experience i would say DHS hands down, good leadership, all around athletics program. Some people at DCHS still dont know how too tie their shoes! GO TROJANS
