I don't understand why they can't seem to do anything about the speeding through the school zone on Washington St in the mornings. I have called and called and no results. I don't even have school age children in that school. How can I be the ONLY one concerned about this? Most mornings the only ones going the speed limit are the ones behind me, simply because they have no choice. My car doesn't like going 15 miles per hour either, but I make sure it does. But no one monitors, so I guess they don't care. Let's just hope they have time to work the funeral when the worst happens. Has anyone else noticed this???

Don't expect too many changes right off the bat. They have to get in there and evaluate things. Maybe all the police dept needs is new leadership!

He will not change a thing.. He promised jobs to Chris Cobb and Jamie Bishop and promised a promotion to Everett as chief and now that they helped him get elected, he will not deliver.. Only wanted help now he wants a piece of the pie that Dennison cashed in on for the past years.. what a joke...

Maybe he will surprise you. Really, respectfully, hope you are wrong.

OMG He has been in office less than 48 hours and already complaining. He didn't promise anyone any jobs. They cannot just fire people. They have to do some shifting around. As for Bishop, he can't be rehired unless his firing is overturned by the state. Bishop kknows this. Give them a chance and the time to do things right!

Pardon my ignorance, but why is it Bishop would have to have his "firing" overturned by the state? Why would the state care? He was hired and fired in Newbern. what he was fired for was not even gross misconduct, what you are saying doesn't make sense.

And for the record, Harold and KW changed the "bi-laws" that stated the mayor, after he/she is elected chooses who the chief of police will be as well as the city recorder. This is to prevent alderman from having an say over who is elected. And Bishop dont have to wait on the state for anything, he was wrongly fired by Harold.

You're right..amistake..he will have to have his firing overturned by appeal, I believe that is correct

How would that be correct? Is there some law or bi law that states that the chief of police can veto what the mayor and alderman choose to do? Thats what youre saying, that by the chief of police making a decision to fire someone, his decision stands forever and overrides the mayor and aldermen. Is there even a chain of command or is it whomever gets the last word. What does the state have to do with it? Was he persecuted for smoking in the police station? I must have missed that. Oh wait, no he wasn't prosecuted, he was just fired. People get fired and re hired all the time. What on earth would the state have to overturn? Officially, how would the state even be involved with the firing of a police officer in newbern? Did the chief have to get permission from the state to fire him? I don't think so, because the state would know that was a bogus reason to fire an employee. I think the state actually has an uhmmmm, whats that called...oh yea, a human resource department where they do things by policy. Do you really think the state gives a flying whatever who gets fired or rehired in Newbern? Seriously, come on, think about it...

blah blah blah,, I am by far not a Chris Cobb fan. It was a set up to fire Chris so Harold could hire dumb ass Rob.. Same reason Bishop was fired to make room for that other clown!! That place is a cess pool and Parker lied to folks to get elected.. Nothing is gonna change at that hole.. Parker is not worried about Newbern at all, He just wanted Dennison out so he could get a piece of that pie funded by the taxpayer..
