My family is thinking of relocating to Newberg from Kentucky. Does anyone have any helpful information or advice. Thank you.

Buy now! But stay away from D.R Horton houses. I live there currently and enjoy it. I'd try to stay on the North side of hwy 99 due to newer homes and schools.

Just curious, but why stay away from D.R. Horton houses? I've never been in one. Are they poorly constructed?

We moved here 4 years ago after living in the midwest our whole life. Wife took a new job. Looked for a small town like the one we knew. Bought a D.R. Horton house and love it. It's very well constructed and finished. Love the weather here. After suffering many winters with daytime highs at -5 with three feet of snow blowing around and trying to keep the cars running and the driveway clear, having no snow in a place where it seldom freezes is really nice. Yes it rains, it also rains in the midwest. The percentage of sunny days here is the same as wisconsin (check the weather records). Oregon is a different culture than the midwest, but don't read the forum about "how I hate Oregon" - mostly people just complaining over nothing. Newberg is a fine small town and a great place to live.

We understand. I currently live in Kentucky, but we are from Los Angeles and we have family in Salem, Silverton, and Vancouver, WA. We are looking to return to a little slower pace of the lifestyle we were used to, and be closer to family. Thank you for your response.
