I used Father and Sons for moving out of state and they were great. Only one man was intoxicated but he was not the driver, rather helper to loading the truck. The driver was professional and apologized for his helper who was a family member. He loaded the truck fast and then set the furniture up where I wanted when we got to the new place. The price was also good.

This is the worse company on the face of the earth! If you want your home damaged, your furniture ruined, and your entire move a nightmare.....hire this company. They will do just that!!

The owners (must be the spoiled rotten sons) don't even care.
Stay Far....far away. I told everyone I knew about them.

I only wish I read these reviews prior to hiring Father & Son of Newark NJ / New York to move into a 5 room apt - 3 of which are bedrooms. Everything you read in the prior posts happened to me too!! The job cost more than double then the price quoted, my furniture was held hostage,,,,I helped load and had 3 more people come to assist with the unload!! Sal / Sandy are very personable and give you the distinct impression they are stand-up, honest folks - this couldn't be further from the truth!!! Sandy arrived with her arm in a sling - stating her adult son knocked her down - for all I know this is part of the scam. Damage - lots and lots of damage from my grandmother's table, to my mother's secretary, my grill - to the knob on a lamp!! The only things that weren't damage were the things I packed myself!!! The movers didn't have tools and I was charged the 1 hr it took me to locate the tools they needed!!!

I can't say this enough - avoid Father & Scum, I mean Son!!!

Check out this consumer affairs link if you have any doubt:

If you use this outlaw, I mean outfit --- don't say I didn't warn you!!!!

DO NOT USE Father & Son of Newark NJ/NY!!! They were by far the worse movers I have yet to encounter. IF this posting stops one family from experiencing what we did it is worth. Our move was across town, damage was unimaginable and the rate increase after our items were loaded on the truck is astounding!!! How they stay in business is a mystery to me!

I will NEVER use this company again – I am telling all my friends, neighbors and associates about my awful experience and want to alert people I don’t know! This company is incompetent in every way – from quoting; to loading; to delivering; to reassembling. They excel at tripling the price quoted; damaging furniture; not reassembling the furniture and getting lost for 1 hr on a 30 minute ride.

AVOID @ ALL COSTS!!

This company is run by Rick Russo. He uses fake names when he speaks with you. I worked for him and was fired for refusing to low ball customers.

AVOID! AVOID! Can't say much more than what the other reviews already have other than - it's all true. Here is what will happen. You will set up your move, so nice on the phone. Sounds so reasonable & straightforward. When they arrive, you'll be told it's going to be more than the X hours they told you for your job which is bigger than. You say, well, ok I guess however many hours it takes. They will then disappear with your stuff, claiming "travel time" (which you are paying for). What they are doing during that time is re-drafting your "contract"! They will show up at the destination with the truck full of your things, and demand that you pay the new (typed up!)contract amount - anywhere from 2-4 times the original quote, depending on how many mini-scams they were able to run on you. If you don't want to pay, guess what? You don't get your stuff back! Your only recourse is to call the police and get a police report for their witholding your posessions.

I never checked the reviews for Father & Son and am I sorry I didn't Four lamps were ruined, furniture was pushed through doorways so paint is on there along with scrapes causing damages estimated at several hundreds of dollars by a furniture restorer which they would not cover. We were mislead from the start when Sandy came to give an estimate & never allowed us to read the small print on the papers or allowed us to option additiona insurance which we would have done because she was in such a hurry to get in and out. The estimate turned out to be misleading and caused the end payment to be $100 shy of double the quote!. Ended paying for three men even though one got injured on the job. Good thing the bank was open or we wouldn't have gotten our furniture off the truck. The management people are not upstanding individuals nor do they have a conscience. They are truly not reliable or above board, just a bunch of con artists and liars who get away with murder and peoples money at a most sensitive time in their lives...moving day. Beware of this company's outlandish schemes so this doesn't happen to you.

Father and Son Co. moved my family from one location, stored the furniture for two nights , and then delivered it to the new location. It was the same crew, led by Joe who picked up and delivered the furniture. The cost was very close to the estimate. The men were very professional, pleasant, and considerate of our belongings. We found the whole experience to be positive and stress free.

Father & Son Moving from Newark is a wrecking crew, not a moving company. They forge signatures, double estimates, hold your furniture hostage, damage, lose and/or steal your irreplaceable possessions, and threaten you over the phone. Rick Russo is the owner, and Anthony Bianco is the principle/attorney who acts as consigliary. It's straight out of The Godfather. IOW, I don't have to tell you what kind of people run such businesses.

My experience was very pleasant. This driver Fitz ran a good crew. I was short on my balance due which was on target so they placed my furniture in my new apt and let me send money a day later. everything was stated in contract especially if go past a certain amount of hours, people really have to read, they are upfront. I would def recommend them and use again in the future.

I used father and son on two occasions and found their crews on BOTH occasions to be extremely professional with my moves. The office quoted me a price, the estimator came to my home and confirmed that same price "in writing", and the moving men collected exactly what i was quoted. What made the crew especially special was the fact that my 92 year old father was unable to get upstairs in his wheel chair and the moving men graciously carried him wheelchair bound up the staircase.Wow, what a crew, and what a GREAT company! I would highly recommend this company to all my friends and relatives.

Pls make sure you receive an accurate estimate....ask specific questions regarding pricing. I received my bill after the move and I almost fell on the floor, it was outrageous and no one had explained any of these costs to me beforehand. Movers were good, but that was it.....I was very disappointed. I would not recommend to anyone.

This is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Everything that others have posted except Blackjack200 (whom I suspect works or owns the company) is true. They tripled my estimate. To move a small 1 bedroom apt into their storage facilities cost me $2,000 and I had everything packed for them. The only storage location they have is in Newark NJ by the airport but they told me that they had ohters in the Tri-State area. NOTHING THAT THEY TOLD ME WAS TRUE. When I tried to move my things out of storage I was informed that there was a $450 fee for them to move my things to a loading area at their warehouse if they did not move me to my new home. Basically holding my belongings hostage.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST.

Father and Son quoted me $600 due to a delay in closing. I was amenable to that. However, when they arrived I was presented with a bill for an additional $1,900 due to the delay. All in all they were good movers, except for the fact that they overcharged me by $1,300. Beware, and get it in writing.

Father & Son is a front for Mafia Activity. The Newark Office looks more like a pool hall than a business. It has a huge vault, Bulletproof Glass and a Panic Room. I'm sure the Florida-NJ van lines deliver some pretty "interesting goods"... avoid at all costs.

I used Father and Son and had a positive experience. The estimate was on target and the service was good. The truck showed up on time and the crew worked hard and effortlessly to provide a smooth move. I would use them again in the future very positive experience
