Maybe she should of concentrated on making herself happy. People who do massive amounts of coke, booze and pills are not happy people.

I would appreciate a logical explanation as to why this woman is being given this honor. I'll concede that she had the most beautiful voice of her generation but she chose to destroy it through drugs and alcohol. As others have stated, our heroes are not recognized is this manner and all this does is send a message that being a celebrity and throwing it away deserves more recognition than laying one's life on the line in defense of our country.
Governor Christie I have always admired you for taking a stand on what you considered to be the right course of action in your administation but you blew it this time!
I too, looked across the Delaware River to a state that seemed to be on the right track. Chris Christie was much better than our own Governor Corbett. But what he is now doing is shameful. Does he lowers the flag for NJ state troopers and other policmen who are killed in the line of duty?

My bad. I just now looked at a link provided by Pappy on post#16. The NJ state flag is indeed flown at half staff in memory of New Jersey soldiers and policemen who are killed. It was even flown at half-staff for Clarence Clemmons of the E-Street Band.

Sorry, not good enough. She was a musician and an actor. That's all
To lower the flag for non military or high govt official is disrespectful of those whom fought and died overseas who never recieved a half staff recognition. This is the worst decision Ive ever seen. All due respect to whitney's talents and contributions, this is way out of line!

She was a Junkie who happen to be born with the talent to sing. The way people mourn over her passing is pathetic. To fly the flag at half mast is a slap in the face to those deserving soles who have been awarded this honor in the past.New Jerseys Governor should be ashamed....and voted out of office.

She does not deserve an honor like this. If that is the case I can think of regular citizens who deserve it more.

Chris Christie is flying the flag at half staff for a drug addict. Habitual drug addict. She did not kill herself with a gun, but just the same she killed herself. Tragic it is. Half staff flag flying it is not worthy of that. I am certain that in all of the drug rehabs she had been to they told her that. She was great at one time, making her great in the fact that she was a pathetic dope head when she died is no different than trying to make jerry sandusky great for what he was before being exposed for what he is if he died today!

I agree with you. I lost a nephew in Iraq six years ago. I know how much everybody's support meant to us. I hope that same type of support will help her family deal with their loss as well.

Whitney wasn't Hendrix or any other old rock legend that died.

People were not educated about the dangers of drug abuse then.

Whitney, a crack head and allowed herself to be an abused hooker.

She was a dumb slave to a black woman beater and pimp, Bobby Brown.

She was a poor excuse for other black women everywhere.

She died in a bath tub full of her diarrheal feces and turds.

No one should be honoring her snanky diseased ass and vagina.

Her black nipples chewed and buised with the teeth of Bobby Brown.

She wasn't even Marilyn Monroe in who died of an OD in 1962.

At least, Marilyn had class.

You're right, Elvis did die the same as Whitney. Stoned! And yes the majority of entertainers are substance abusers, hell most of America is. So when will it be time to stop honoring those that kill themselves with drugs. When it's your child or other family member. Death is not mean, it's forever! The term recreational was created only to make drug use more acceptable. The time for honoring is over. We better wake up and start taking a non-delusional approach.

A crack pipe was found on the edge of her filthy tub. She hasn't performed in years. Shit, Jimi Hendrix recorded for only four years
from 1966-1970 and 46 years later, still has new stuff coming out.

Whitney was a dumb black bimbo with the intelligence of turd.

Whitney was a possitive influence on so many highly regarded singers. She had true God given talent. I see nothing wrong in lowering the flag in her honor. She helped many people and charities. Whitney was known for acts of kindness. She paid for cancer treatments for a member of her staff and saved that woman's life. She made many poor life choices that finally took its toll.

Color has nothing to do with it unless Christi is going after the black vote cause he did not get the black vote last election and he has lost some supporters. If he is then looks like they are made fools of and used only.I would have thought Al Sharpton would have been sharp enough to know that.
