there are many questionable places in the area. On the old rt 49 close by the high school. That old boarded up building by the troopers in known to be haunted. Everyone that bought it to live in, moved out immediately but that was over 25 years ago, only one business tried to run out of there and it to was closed soon after. How about the cavanaugh tombstones on the old cavanaugh property. Cavanaugh Rd. used to be a driveway to the cavanaugh's. What is written on the tombstone is only believed when seen.
what does it say???

star hill in Remsen use to be a great place. now there are too many new houses that way. during the summer, my sister and I would take our kids up there and wait to see the red lights. one night, all of a sudden a car came out of nowhere and when we finally got down to the main road, the car was no longer behind us. lots of strange lights use to appear on the side of the road and in the trees.

My house in New Hartford. It's just shy of 200 yrs old. My husband and I were both woken up one night by footsteps in our room except nobody was there. There have been strange perfume smells on the stairs that weren't there a minute before and that cold chill we get from time to time. We even have a couple graves on the property. The house is great otherwise. many families have grown up here so we don't get spooked ... anymore.lol
Which part of NH do is your house? Did you ever look up the history on that house to see if anyone died there? or talk to any previous owners to see if they had the same experiences?

I remember the story of potato hill, wasnt that the place where an older couple claim they saw "something" being dragged behind a car. They called the local police and it turned out that this guy tied up some poor sole with a rope to the bumper of his car and dragged his body across the road. Then they found out that he had not only killed that person but the remains of a few others were also found on the property.

Devil's Gate in the Frankfort Gorge. If you have the nerve, go there some night in the fall and walk up the trail past the gate. Trust me when I say you will come running out of there faster than you knew you could run!

the tombstone says that so and so lies here and on a certain day you will have the same fate. I ran after I saw it because we heard branches breaking on the ground from somebody walking. I was only 12 when i was taken there. I'm still kicking and I'm 35, knock on wood.

We live on a semi busy street. I won't say more then that because this is..topix.lol. Actually the name of the street (both in NH and Utica) was taken from one of the owners of this house. We have a history of the house that we got when we perchased it 7 yrs ago. The only thing was nobody ever told us that it was haunted. The last owner died a few years ago as an Old man and I don't know where to find his children. They live around here but there are alot of people with the same last name. I would love to ask them questions.

The house on the corner of Valley View & the Parkway has been known to be haunted for years. The last family that rented there lasted just a few months because the kids had experiences with ghosts almost daily and after a while wouldn't even sleep in the house any more. There were area "ghosthunters" in the house after the family left, who ran their tests and concluded there are indeed spritual beings in the house. I know some of the people involved and this is not just hearsay.

I looked in this thread specifically to see if this house was mentioned. I lived there for 20 years of my life, moving out in 2003. We had some terrifying experiences in that house, and the amazing thing is, after we moved out and the revolving door of tenants/owners started, the other families started having experiences too, which is hilarious to me because we never had any communications with the family(s) that moved in after we left, because they bought the house from the bank and not directly from us. So take that how you want to.

People ask me about the house constantly, and I rarely talk about it and almost never go into specifics, because people just wind up thinking we're crazy. But the funny thing is, I never knew what a good night's sleep was until I moved out of that house. I was raised there and lived there my whole life, so to me it was almost "normal" to have the feeling of being watched at all times, to awaken to loud noises, doors slamming shut, footsteps, cold chills, toys going off periodically, and even the occasional music box playing without anybody having wound them up etc. The dogs would stare into space and bark for hours on end, sometimes.

Nobody in my family of 6, nor any of our friends and relatives, were ever comfortable being there alone, for the whole time we lived there. In fact, sometimes I would just have an uncomfortable feeling of terror in my bedroom, even with other family members being on the other side of the house.

It was just absolutely awful in every way, and now that I have my own place it's amazing how much more peaceful and comfortable I am just relaxing at home.

With that being said, I just want to add, does anybody have any more information about the people that lived there after us? I'm really really interested to hear what happened to them.

I see for sale signs go up and down all the time, over the last 5 years, and I'm really curious to know how many different families have lived there since we left. Before my parents bought the house in the early 80's, I guess it went through a similar thing with people buying and selling it on like a yearly basis..

We were the only family who ever put up with it and lived in that house for an extended period of time, as far as I know.
