New Airport in NY Could Ease Congestion
#1 Jan 29, 2008
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is to be commended for having the foresight to reuse the former Stewart Air Force Base for civilian aviation in order to relieve overcrowding at JFK and Laguardia airports.
That is a lot more that can be said for some areas of California such as Irvine and Novato. Those avaricious cities have replaced perfectly good airbases with cookie cutter homes, and strip malls in order to enrich their own coffers. This comes at the expense of the nation's taxpayers who paid for those aviation assets in the first place.
The end result for the rest of us is more airport
overcrowding, higher fares, and delays. Irvine and
Novato should both be required to finance the entire cost of a replacement airport. After all they got plenty of extra money from those air bases that they hijacked from the American public.
