newburgh is full of slumlords but not all are the same way....these landlord might be right in saying its the tenants fault.I lived in newburgh for 25 years and saw lander st apartmenst that were rebuild near south st.....for a couple months they looked nice then all of a sudden vietnam hit.It even seems like these people want to live like animals.I for one had a very nice and clean landlord in the heights. He was very picky on who he choose to rent to.we are very clean and when we moved he asked us if we knew anyone that he could rent the aparment to.And yes we did have someone. He asked me if they were clean and yes i told him.The point i am tryng to make is these... many landlords will rent to anyone to just keep making money. You just cant do that i rather loose two months of rent but i will not rent to scum............also they want help.....to say it from youre mouth is one thing ...and to feel it from youre heart is another. And yes i know genuine people that do need help and want the help. But that number is veru small.I for one did not wait for the help,i worked and helped myself so much i got out of scumburgh......but i guess some just love the filth

how RIGHT you are bug- you can give someone the tools but you cannot build for them - those that live in these buildings WANT to -there is no excuse for garbaga and old furniture on your porch and in your yard -for NOT closing your doors when you go in and out -and for the general slovinliness in which renters keep these apartments - they deserve the hovels - its just too bad everyone else has to look at them - poor newburgh
