From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginny_Augustin<quoted text>
Her name was Genevieve Augustin, "Jean" or "Ginny" for short. She committed "suicide" (according to Mama Rose/Gypsy) or was "murdered" (more likely, Mama Rose was jealous of Ginny's advances on Gypsy) on June 1, 1937.

The home is now privately owned and not open to the public. Sorry!

It is my understanding the home is privately owned and not open to the public. It is also my understanding the home did suffer a fire and has been rebuilt/restored in a beautiful fashion.
I am told the practice stage in the basement remains. I believe it was not damaged and was able to be saved as was most of the main structure.
Having friends in the Burlesque industry, if the only knew this legacy of Gypsy Rose Lee existed, they would be besides themselves. Would be fascinating to see them perform on that stage. What a dream/wish that is.

On this week-end 86yrs ago,my Aunt Genevieve(Jen) was murdered @ Witchwood Manor. Seems very strange that all these people writing books have never contacted her family for the real story. One sided books suck!!!!!

During my teenage years I spent a great deal of time there,
with my first love---the son of the owners (1980's) His name was CARL.
He played the drums...his band mate lived down the road the Schwaltz family.....
His room was the one overlooking the pool and ABOVE the kitchen (there was a wee small stairway, that went up through I guess the butlers kitchen)
I (we) were certain that there is a ghost in the ballroom.
No doubt a ghost in the place. For some reason winter was when the feeling came upon us..most ...The room before the ballroom had a fireplace and yet was always cold... feeling I could not shake...
The little small house off the side of the main kitchen area , on the right of driveway as you drive up to the house ...
was at the time -a raccoon house! yes a family of raccoons!!
The owners would go to the bakery and fill up the convertible with-
A horse lived there too at that time.
Also a big great dane...
The first time I drove a car was up the driveway- the owners silver anniversary edition corvette. around the driveway and underneath the house , it was pretty creepy,(to a teen girl anyways at the time). Drive around back of pool, into house the garage .... This was I recall under the ballroom... I always got scared in there for some reason. The garage..
Something was not right ...... I think the stage was there ..I always felt scared in there ....going up the stairs where it entered the kitchen.
I have cherished memories otherwise...
I really miss my childhood memories and the owner Carol whom is not alive ....she was a beautiful person...like a mother to me. bless her.
My first love Carl, her son - I keep in touch with to this day.
Although he never married nor had kids....
we do laugh about the times we had at Roselawn ..

do you know if it was snowing or if there was "snow" on the ground when this occurred???? was this in the ballroom? Just curious.
sorry and hope your family finds the truth and the public too.

It is very difficult to find everyone that needs to be contact when doing research. Especially after female members change their names. I'm sure she would like to hear from you after the many years of research she did. You can easily contact the author of the recently released book.
