I am looking for old photographs of Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Including the old Firthcliff Club House, buildings prior to 1900, railway stations, etc. In Jan, a bowling lanes photo was for sale on ebay with the wrong discription. Does anyone know who owns that photo?

I too am looking for old Cornwall photos. I've searched the net but haven't had much luck. I've located a few but not as much as I had hoped for. I did find an interesting book that I was surprised even existed given the apparent scarcity of all things Cornwall. My email address is [email protected] I would be happy to share with you.

The Friends of the Cornwall Library sells three books which have a history and photos. One of them is a reprint from the original 1873 Cornwall book by Beach. I believe there was an original one on ebay recently.

Facebook has been a great source of old Cornwall and Newburgh photos. Billy's Cornwall Blasts from the Past Fan Club FB page and Richard Pucino's FB page is fantastic. Also check out nfayearbooks.com Another good source. I'm having no luck at finding much for the 5 corners of Vails Gate. The public library at Cornwall has some photos and articles but they are very small.

I have an old postcard from Pine Crest in Salisbury Mills, NY. I believe my parents spent their honeymoon there in 1946. Does it still exist?

Still haven't found many photos of the main street businesses of Cornwall and Cornwall on Hudson. The ones I do have are from postcards or Facebook but I'm mainly looking for photos of the 1940's thru the 1970's. Someone must have taken photos of the old firehouses, Hazard's Drug Store, Hey's Appliance Store, Gluby's, Cornwall Local at Willow, The Chrysler dealership, Johnson's Garage, Clark's Market, Grand Union, etc. BTW, I use these photos for a photo album to take to monthly CCHS class luncheons.

David Sherwood here. My dad owned the Main Street Garage in Cornwall from the late 1910's to 1948 whereon Fred Johnson of Cornwall on Hudson bought the garage from him, and sold Plymouth's and Dodge's, Bill Bernicker (his father was one of the town's barbers) purchased the garage from Fred, and I think it was he who added the Chrysler line in the 70's or so. When the Chrylser family of cars dropped dealers, Bernickers was dropped also.

David Hey of Hey's and I were good friends back in the old days.

I took some pictures of Main Street a year or so ago, and for the most part, it looks just like it did way back when.

Very interesting. Would it be possible for you to share these photos by scanning these and sending them to me. I would not only love to see them but also share them with the Cornwall Historical Society. We are also looking for Firth Carpet Mill photos. I could give you my email address to send the photos.

Growing up in Cornwall, firthcliffe area, was just about the best place in the world to go up. Fond memories of the old willow ave. school, the grandness of it. The shale pit. Devils rock swimming hole on moodna creek. Our neighbor worked at the old mill prior to WW2, there was a slab of cement near the entrance to the mill. That use to be an old school house, where he went to school. Like I said, very fond memories. My father would leave his keys in the car, never locked the front door. Walked to Main Street to glubys, never got harassed. Road our bikes from early morning till the old fire house siren blasted...supper time.
After 40 years away, went back for a visit while in NYC participating in the Westminster Dog Show. Cornwall looked the same for the most part. No willow ave school, burnt down same as the mill and Sals Tavern, where me and a bunch of guys were "pin boys" in the bowling alley. Saw a couple people I grew up with, I might as well come from Mars......I guess my memories are more in the forefront as to how I lived my life because of Cornwall. Like the saying goes, you can never go home.
I should have left well enough alone.
