Four oaks farm $5,053,107 , George Lacour $3,642,241 , Marty Graham $1,878,255 , Merrick Farms $1,873,838 , Dunham Brothers farm $1,188,663. Is it any wonder these poor farmers can buy camps, hunting property, new vehicles every year. They are getting rich off of our tax money. Look up www.ewg.org farm subsidy data base click on louisiana pick Pointe Coupee and see for yourself just how poor our farmers are. Not to mention they have all mexicans doing the work.

The next thing you need to do is go to the website for the assessor's office and see how much they pay in property tax. These guys pay less on a thousand acres of land than many do on a normal sized home! They control the police jury, but pay little in taxes. How is that possible?

Not to mention how much work the police jury maintenance crews do on their property at taxpayer expense!

The federal goverment supplies substidies to many foriegn countries that our farmers compete with. Why don't you give us a list of the billions we send to help them. Then our farmers who are riding tractors 12 hours a day and dependent on the weather to determine whether their hard work will be lost to weather.I personally don't have a problem helping our REAL farmers and don't purchase any foriegn fruit or vegetables from overseas as they don't have to conform with the controls of pesticides or other farm regulations. The problem is the congress passing laws that pays out to people who don't farm anything but play the system. Our property taxes are low because we are a farming parish. You try the daylight to dark work and the expense of buying equipment and then spout off.Where were you when obama gave 2 billion to brazil?

I seriously doubt that someone who gets 5 million dollars from the goverment will ever spend 12 hours per day on a tractor or ever get on one.

He will have workers, mexicans, doing the work and working for minimum wage.

He just collects the money.

They collect tax dollars from the Feds. They don't pay much tax locally. They do make political donations, however. They own your police jury, state legislators, sheriff, and assessor.

It's cheaper than paying taxes!

LaCour 4,809,001 over 15 years 320,600 a year.
Only two partners there.

Frey's had to be divided four ways, they received more money, but divided four ways Georgie Porgie made out better

Frey 6,280,932 over 15 years. four ways 104,682 each. Georgie Porgie 160,300 when shared two ways.

Would love to know what the money comes out to this year with the spillway and atchafayla river flooding crops.

I realize they did not net this money and it cost to farm, if I had that much money given to my business each year, I would be looking good. Of course I don't have all the ex's to support.

It is hard to not get a little personal when it is this kind of money given to someone who is a millionaire many times over. Seems to me I would treat people very kindly.

Does your salary depend on the commodities market that can rise and fall with the manipulation of the stock market.I do know many farmers who do ride tractors and work on their own equipment which but the way can cost up to 500,000 per. Some farmers recieve monies from gov. leases as with the lacours on the morganza basin, which can be flooded.Of course as a farmer ages or expands he does need to hire workers and pay them. They also have insurance, maintenance and the huge cost of pesticides. Some play the system, but most of these peolple work hard.I do not want to be dependent on foriegn countries for our food,do you?If you think oil prices are high ,wait till we are at the mercy of foriegn countries for our food.Do you think the natural disasters in the u.s. last year had no affect on farmers? No one addressed the funds we send overseas to support their farmers or the billions we GAVE to brazil and other countries to support their farming and business expansion. That is a number i wish you would show us all.You can buy from china that poisoned our pets and contaminated food products and put lead in our childrens toys.

We all have expenses that deal with our bottom line. In any business the market changes, the
competition is more difficult, so on.

I know they work hard and we need American farmers......

A lot of these farmers do not get their hands dirty very often. It is over seeing the workers, working in the office, traveling to and from meetings and staying on the phone. The people who are on the top of the list are very wealthy and know how to work the system.

I would like to have this much money put into my business. That is a lot of money and the rich folks profit from it.

Every business supplies a needed product, but most don't get subsidies like this. I agree with Turner. I own a business and lots of people tell me they are glad I am here so they don't have to drive to Baton Rouge, but the government doesn't give me money to support my business. I check the property tax thing. I pay more in property taxes than these guys do, too. Even their personal homes are underassessed. So, maybe they are paying off the assessor and sheriff.

I always had the opinion that you work hard and get ahead in life.

It has never been my thought pattern that the rich get richer off the working man.

I felt that idea was more of a welfare mentality, but seeing this makes me realize that
some rich people do get more because of the working
man paying taxes.

The middle class has the tax bill for the welfare folks and the handouts to the wealthy people.

Guess if I we have a roof over our heads and food on the table we are blessed too.

Honestly, if the government would give that kind of money to my business I would take it and be grateful.

Do you think these farmers over here need to get rich. I know the Dunham brothers just bought a very large tract of land in Kansas to hunt on.
