"You will find very few people in this parish who actually care about these children besides myself"

This didn't come out right. There are many, many who care about the children of this parish. I didn't express my outrage correctly. Sorry good Pointe Coupee people!

You need to research what you speak of before you make accusations.
One, as an employee of First Student, I resent the fact that you ASSUME we have no vested interest in our employment or the welfare of the children simply because we have no benefits or retirement. HOW DARE YOU!!! You will find very few people in this parish who actually care about these children besides myself. Did it occur to you that maybe we drive because we love the kids, not simply because we want benefits and retirement? First Student has more policies and procedures in place to prevent exactly this type of thing from happening that you are probably not aware of. You owe
an apology.
Secondly, the incident in question did not happen on a First Student bus. Goes to show just how much you know.
Third - rather than point fingers at anyone, resources need to be invested in getting these children the help and mental help counseling that they need. Where is CPS getting involved to find out where in the hell this 11 year old
learned about doing this. I promise the thought didn't cross his mind simply
from video games, tv or rap music.
Makes me physically ill when people throw stones in glass houses.
Word!
Did I ever tell you I really enjoy your posts?:-)

Thank you for the kind words. I am far from a perfect person. But I truly care about the children in this parish.

I also forgot to mention that First Student does offer a benefits package:

Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance
LTD & Life Insurance
401k - last time I checked, 100% company match up to 15%, but that may have changed in the last year as the economy has worsened.
Plus more.

Not bad benefits for a part-time job where you are working on average 4 hours per day, 5 days-per-week, right? By no means is it on par with the State Retirement and Benefits system from a cost to the employee standpoint, but that is one of the main reasons the state is having the budgetary problems that it is having now.

Many employees that are dissatisfied with their salary or hourly wage fail to recognize exactly how much their benefits package cost their employers.
It can be several dollars an hour and the employee may not be aware of the sacrifice the employer is making.

It's been my experience on health insurance alone, if your employer pays half, it'll cost you one dollar an hour. That's two dollars an hour to pay for the most basic healthcare.
That's only if you're under 50!!!!!

Two dollars an hour for healthcare is ridiculous.
It bleeds this nation.
Families that provide 100% owner healthcare have a tremendous burden!

This scenario involves only single people.
Magnify it with a family.

Kinda got off subject, there.
Topix is kinda starved for intelligent discussion without personal attacks
these days.lol.

Spell check. Get it. Got it? Good. I have a nutured male dog a year old. It is constantly humping my other male dog. No one taught him how to do it. He don't even know why be does it. He just does it. Why do people always think that someone teaches natural behavioral? Thats a out all I got to say in this subject. Poor kids. I feel for you.

I agree! I was just translating what the woman said. And b/c they are juveniles she could not disclose information about the case! However, she also said that legally nothing could be done about expelling the boy.. Which that I do not understand, b/c he is rapist! And he should not be allowed back in that school! "

I wasn't criticizing your comments by any means....just trying to get across the point that as the child who did this was a juvenile, so was the victim and all of the other children also. In addition to the victim needing protection, so do all of the other juveniles.

We are dealing with P.C.P.S.B's "sweep it under the rug" policy, as usual!

As a retired bus driver, I think the "contracted transportation" situation leaves a lot to be desired. What happened on the bus never should have gone unnoticed by the driver. Their drivers have no vested interest in their buses nor their employment without having retirement, etc... Let me further state that it should have never happened on a bus route! Yes, it's a lot to keep up with, but if a driver can't handle his/her job responsibilities, that driver needs to find employment elsewhere.
I agree about the bus driver as well! As an adult you should know if something like that is going on! Some kind of suspicious alarms should have been going off in the drivers head! As a mother, I know when something is up! I mean nothing of this nature but u just know when a child is up to something!

And I still say the parents of this child that committed the crime needs to be investigated!!! Does anyone know if that happened? That is not normal nature for a child to do that and then threaten the younger boy to not tell anyone. He knew it was wrong and knew he would get in trouble. It just makes me think someone does that or did that to him. This is so messed up and makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

Ewwwe! You are sick! Children do not go around humping other children like dogs! Obviously you do not have children, otherwise, you'd know that for the most part kids are innocent and know nothing about sex until exposed! You are describing animal instincts. Animals do not have sex for pleasure. It's only to reproduce!

No dummy!!! You want to criticize people on spelling and you can't comprehend what you read!! Animals DO NOT have sex for pleasure. It's their animal instinct to do that! Children do not have this instinct! They are taught!

Did someone teach you how to have sex? Or did you just follow your instincts? Was there like a class for that in school?

oh I get it you are pointing the finger at the parents? The parents are messing with the kids? Is that what you are saying? If your Daughter gets pregnant is it because you taught her how? Just saying it's stooopid to say it is learned behavior. Not always. The kid could be gay. You know there are gay kids and they experiment. I'm not condoning what happened. Just saying it's not always learned behavior. You are blind.

Oh, my God! I had no idea this kind of stuff is going on in Pointe Coupee. I heard about the creep that raped the disabled girl at Tara High in Baton Rouge last year and thought that it was a world away from us. This really hits home in a bad way.

that is a lie.if they could expell a child for fighting why this is so special.if people allow this it is a damn shame.if i was the parent of this child who did thid i would keep him away on my own.how could the school sAY THEY cannot expell him.you know what the parents should keep their children home for a couple of days and keep calling the school board until the phones stop ringing on their own.this is so upsetting to me.the parents or parent of this child need to be behind bars too.children just donot think of these crazy things.something is going on
I always was thought the school was responsible for the kids from the time they got on the bus till they for off, morning to afternoon, I know of incidents where kids were suspend from school because of actions on the bus, so if the can suspend, why can't they expel this kid??
