People what the Pasco county commissioners are NOT telling you is: "If you have a handicapped placard or a handicapped plate, you DO NOT have to pay $2.00 to park. I verified this with commissioner Mariano. So for all you folks out there that have these placards or plates enjoy the parks that YOUR TAX DOLLARS are suppose to be supporting, anyway, once again! It seems that my friend in Libertyville, IL just may have something there!

I Hate the $2 fee i use to go to starky and other county parks to ride bike and check out nature
I go to pinellas county now.
Less hastle and way cheaper.
Why should i pay 2 bucks every time i visit a park as a county resident?

The one way we can defeat it is next election and let'em know why we voted them out!

The $2 park fee is a THIRD charge for ONE service.

We pay for our parks in our property taxes.
(which are also passed on to renters)

We pay for our parks AGAIN in the Penny-for-Pasco sales tax.
That's Hundreds of Millions of Dollars of new income since 2004. It recurs every year.

The $2 parking fee can only be necessary, if the above two revenue streams are mismanaged.

Jack Mariano is the only Commissioner who will admit that. The others should be voted out.

I agree with that one. We go to one of the parks weekly and I have a handicapped plate on my car so we don't have to pay. However, as we walk through the park we see very few people that actually do pay. I know that come next election I will vote to get all of them, with the exception of Mr. Mariano, out of there. Let them see what it's like looking for work!

Just stopped going to the Pasco Parks. Shame that as a resident, I have to pay additional fees. Just add another $50 to my property tax and manage the tax money more efficiently and let it be. I miss using the park system.

It's very annoying. When we visit Starkey now there is a long line of people waiting to pay at the first kiosk. When local gov't enacts this type of fee, there's no stopping them. They can make it as high as they can get away with. I noticed at Green Key beach they just installed a computerized payment machine spending our money to buy it. At Starkey they have the park ranger going around enforcing things. So, he's looking for people who do not have the payment stub, therefore he's not doing his park ranger duties. The whole thing is very unfair and I only see fare increases from Pasco.

I don't mind paying the $2 fee to visit my favorite parks in Pasco. There are several in Pinellas that we enjoy as well. I am not going to let $2 detour me from enjoying some time out with my family and my camera.

Hey did you know that home depot will not give military discount to vets unless your card says service related meaning you we're disable because of the service. Can any one explain what they mean? Thanks

I researched it about a year ago ehen these pay stations started popping up at all the parks and beaches in pasco. Its because pasco county at that time was 5mill in debt to the state because the school system was lieing about the amount of students theyhad at theire schools to get more funding from the state. The state caught this and then cut off funding for allot of schools until they did a full inspection and seen just how many students the schools really had. In the end pasco had taken 5mill wrongfully that then had to be payed back. Thats why they charge, so that pasco can pay off its debt that is owed to the state.
