This is fantastic news. Congrats to Harvey, the staff, the school board, & Dr. Sager for all the effort & support given to achieve this success. Maybe this will shut up some of the critics out there.

Who the hell gave you this information.
Beech Grove High School as a matter of fact all Beech Grove Schools are terrible. Ever heard of the no child left behind, well Beech Grove needs to step it up quite a few notches in order to be on this list. Also, my children go there and tell me of the massive amounts of cheating that goes on in these class rooms and the only ones that get caught are the ones the teachers don't like. Sounds awful political to me. Really now, how did you get this information. I do not consider Beech Grove any star school and have even written my congressmen regarding this issue. They definitly need some help in many many departments. You should really look into the cheating game over there. They just want to make the school look good. Ha Ha.......... What a great big laugh. I have been fighting with them for the last 12 years regarding this no child left behind policy. Also, in the grade schools head lice is terrible. I offered to teach parents how to avoid, and keep headlice from invading our school at my own expense, only to have the principal turn around and walk away from me. I was offering services free of charge and he just turned around and walked away from me in the middle of our conversation. Ha Ha.... 4 star school. This is way too funny wait till I show my friends this one. They can't even keep people in Beech Grove due to the vandelism of cars, breaking in houses, murders, etc. None of this ever leaks out. The last 2008 murder on the south side was in Beech Grove, but it did not get reported as Beech Grove it only got reported as a south side murder. Oh my Gosh, what next? Bush running a third term?

Way to go Beech Grove! Go Hornets! This is a wonderful distinction for a first rate school. Beech Grove awarded me a valuable education, it was a great school and still is. Kelli Heuer (Crockett)

Tamara, someone needs to go on their meds. If the schools were really that bad, why are your kids there? If Beech Grove itself is that bad, why haven't you moved? I'm a lifelong Grover & while I question some things that happen there, I wouldn't be happy anywhere else. My oldest has been in the system for 6 years & we haven't had one problem with a teacher or a principal. Maybe your expectations & attitude has caused these problems. OH, NEWSFLASH, cheating was going on when I went there over 20 years ago. Yes, teachers have pets but even they can get caught (I know).

Yes, the last murder was in BG. in the trash apt. on the outskirts. im guessing thats where you live. I have lived in BG for over 10 years and I have never had my house or car messed with. In my part of BG their are police officers, and fire men that live about every 5th house. I own my home there and am very proud of the School system. I work WITH the teachers to make sure my children are successful in school and not aginst them. It sounds to me like you are one of the bad apples that should move out and leave this nice community. Maybe IPS would better suite your childs needs.

Sounds like sour grapes to me, Tamara. Maybe you should transfer your kids to IPS and see how you feel then. Or better yet, home school them. If you approached anyone with the attitude you displayed on here, no wonder the principal walked away.

If things are as bad as you say, yes I agree some investigation needs to happen. But unless things have dramatically gone downhill since I graduated in 1985, I am guessing it is still a good school. The teachers, when I went there, actually cared about the students. Because of the small school size, they were able to give more personal attention than a larger school. Harvey Warrner was my homeroom teacher for at least a couple of years. If he was as good an administrator as he was a teacher, then I commend him for his efforts.

"It's not my fault, I just send them to school and let them come home and do whatever they want. I really expected the school to do my parenting for me. I have to help my kids with my homework so I can't watch as much TV..." This is the problem with our education systems - parents don't expect to have any involvement and when they do, they cause unnecessary trouble.

This is nice news to hear about my alma mater. Having said that, I'm surprised, however, no other schools got that distinction. My daughter graduated from North Central High School and her readiness for college was unparalleled.
