Yes this kind of thing only happens in the Gettysburg/Adams County area. It doesn't happen anyplace else in the country or in the world but this area.

First off not Gettysburg. Second happens has a nasty habit happening anywhere, any town, city, church or school. Now PROVE your B.S. that this is a crime infested area. I know you can't. Let me give you a little hint, when a towns police blotter barely shows its self in the paper and when it does has crimes that only Judge Judy would look into, guess what, not crime ridden. Some cities would love not to have worry about a murder happing every 3 years instead of everyday. So Ronnie Woo Woo Troll give it up. You have no proof, you lie to make yourself feel better and you are not fooling anyone. Not the people who live here and NOT the actual people how come here or unlike you, know where the is.

You claim that an area that has had 1: gang graffiti, 2: parking lot and curbside robberies, 3: an attempted murder where a human being was stalked like an animal and set on fire, 4: homicides and attempted homicides of every type, from shootings to knife stabbings to kicking people in the head, 5: known biker and drug gangs operating with impunity, this area is being unfairly portrayed as violent? Pete's eats you guys are fools... That's the only person who would believe such fantasy.
You are a wart laden troll for your hometown. Real people can see the obvious truth. Have fun in your soon to be ghetto!
1. Gang Graffiti, please tell me where this is. I want to see it.
2. Parking lot and curbside robberies. Please tell me more. There was one incident in the paper around a year ago or many longer. One should not be stated as plural. One is singular
3. Tell me about all of these please. One incident in over ten years do you know the whole story on that. If so please contact the police they are looking for help
4. Please explain your source for all of these.
5. Tell me more about the “know biker and drug gangs” I live here and have seen no activity. Not to say they are not here, but they are keeping their activity pretty quiet.

I encourage anyone to read the crime statistic for Gettysburg and Adams County, and see who is telling the truth here. I believe that one who takes the time to look will find that you are making false claims and there is very little crime in this area.

Prove your statements.

Ronnie this is very typical responses from the Gettysburg crowd. Keep up the good work trying to get the word out there that Gettysburg has crime. Good thing they didn't add a casino to the mix.

Gettysburg isn't ready for a casino, they have a serious crime issue apparently. I've read the articles and it looks like its true. Sad, as I went to College there, but we steered clear of the townies. They were known to harass college kids and cause trouble.

. She's coming on to you Ronnie. Why don't you go pick her up in your urine soaked truck and maybe she'll take you to the Sands and you two can win enough for a new truck.

Why are you "locals" so defensive?

You come off very resistant to any notion that things are changing for the worse in many places, an obvious example is Gettysburg. I see you always oppose everyone else that has an opinion different than yours. Sometimes you should just listen and learn, this crime problem is so close to you that you fail to see it.

We "locals" are just tired of reading your blatant BS and alarmist theories that I believe is serving no purpose but to stroke your inflated ego or make up for some personal inadequacy. In my opinion Gettysburg and Adams County is still one of the safest places around to live and raise a family. This will be the last time I will respond to you or any of your alter egos or others posting in the same mean spirited attitude other than to point out your stupidity. Feel free to wallow in your own inadequacies at any rate. I've got better things to do than spend my time debating with nut jobs like you. In a battle of wits you are sadly lacking ammunition.

topic a child is raped and all I see is whether Ronnie knows more about crime then what people read in the paper. as compared to some places Adams county is some what calm as far as crime. but I am sure not going to believe that the only crimes being committed are the ones that they list in the paper, that is what I would call stupidity. I am sure Gettysburg is a safe town, but I sure ain't gonna walk down just any street at any time of the day or night feeling all safe & happy that nothing will happen. anyone that thinks Gettysburg is that safe........ is living in a world with blinders. no city is that safe. but do not take my word go walk where you want it is a free country. but don't start crying when you were somewhere you should not have been & was set on fire or something like that. or maybe right on main street.

I agree with you. You should always be aware of your surroundings and remain alert. You should take reasonable steps to protect your home and your property. Lock your doors and your vehicles. Don't leave valuables in plain sight. In other words exercise some common sense. Avoid situations that could be potentially dangerous. Will you be 100% protected from ever being a crime victim? Of course not. But you will know that you have done all you could to prevent it.

I agree AC Native. There are many sites on the web that give you information on how to “protect” yourself from crime, or to make yourself a less attractive target.

Don’t wear a lot of expensive jewelry, and don’t flash large sums of money. Park in areas with good lighting so you don’t have to walk in the dark. Also walk next to the street and away from buildings are a few.

If you are a victim of a crime, report it immediately. If you witness a crime call the police, and stick around to tell the police what you saw. If crimes aren’t reported, how can the criminals be apprehended? If citizens don’t cooperate with the police, it hampers their investigation.

Crime is up all over the country. Almost every community is seeing an increase in crime for any number of reasons, but if you are aware of things, and don’t provide an easy target things can be avoided.

You are correct a very small number of “townies” did and probably still do harass the students. But from my experience of living here for well over 50 years, in most cases that has come from one of the very few college students who harass the local folks.

Some students come here, thinking that because they are college students they should be treated special and don’t need to obey the local laws and are superior to the local people because they are college students and mom and dad are spending a lot of money to sent them here.

Fortunately both types of people are a very small minority.

Since you don’t like the “townies” I shall assume you had problems. Did you ever think you may have been part of the problem? Or were you possibly one of the students who lived off campus or in one of the Greek houses, who had to put up with the local law enforcement telling you to hold the noise down, or even were evicted for noise or public drinking?

I deal with college students on a regular basis, but not every day. I have found MOST to be great kids who enjoy both the community and the education they are getting here. But there are a few, and a very few that act like I and the town, owe them something because the go to school here.

Regretfully, we as humans have a tendency to remember bad experiences over the good ones, thus I probably remember most of those I didn’t get along with and have forgotten the many great kids I have known over the last 50 years.

I believe you are looking at your relationship with the local people the same way.

If he is found guilty he should do his time and then be released. He'll be required to register as a sex offender. Hanging for rape? Really? Death for a non-death crime? You call THAT justice?

Anyone who would rape a child must be taken off the streets for a long long time.

Sadly, many times these sickos get away with it, especially in small towns like Gettysburg; where the good ol' boys network still operates.

You people make me sick, there's a child involved and you guys are arguing about your differences like a bunch of old ladies.

What argument? It was merely a discussion off topic. Gee THAT never happens on these forums now does it? Seems like you are the one using an innocent child as an avenue for your fabrications. I think you are the sicko.
