Obviously one does not want to be caught with cocaine in Adams county. This is the second guy involved in this drug bust that was sentenced for cocaine. The first fellow got several years, this guy gets 3-8. The majority of the people who were busted for heroin sales have received sentences that only include six months of jail and 2-3 years of probation.

I don't want to sound as if I am defending anyone here, however if we are going to sentence people to years in prison for drugs we should impose the harsher penalties on those who sell the most dangerous substances. Heroin is much more dangerous than cocaine.

Check your facts, Benjamin, before making a statement. The majority involved in the fancy named "Operation Smackdown" got state sentences of 2+ years and two even are facing federal sentences. It was the group of 13 from Littlestown who are getting the lighter sentences. And, cocaine is a highly addictive drug. And for the rest of the people who think only drug dealers cause harm to society, people who drive DUI cause just as much destruction to other people. Think about that over the next few weeks when you are attending your holiday functions, having a drink or two and then driving home.

how about the one who got 11 days per paper but didnt really serve that? He got all parole time. He was caught with heroin. How one of the shaffer boys getting six months at adams? The majority might not have good lawyers or good info on other dealers to get the good plea bargains.

Some of these people were going down to baltimore to pick up heroin on a weekly basis. They were doing it for years. Two big dealers from baltimore were waiting on sentencing this summer. They sold millions in york county alone. This came out with operation badd habit. Five hundred is a drop in the bucket. I am sure the dealers in operation smack down sold more than five hundred in a weekend. Families lives were destroyed the minute the dealer and user decided to sell or use drugs. It was a matter of time how it caught up to them. jail or death or getting better.

Teach the kids not to buy drugs and the dealers will stop or go away. Do not blame the dealers for hurting or damaging a family.

I dont have the low class of the crap that comes out of your mouth. those shaffer boys were dealing heroin in hanover. They had been dealing it for along time. They all were caught at the same time doing the same crime. I am very close to this case. The other one squealed and got less time; that is why he is in adams. You want to defend them go ahead. I what they are and what they did. The one will see federal time so good luck.

You blame your kids and yourself for the pain that a family feels, not the dealers. Do you blame the state for selling the liquor when a drunk drive kills someone. The way you think shows you where born in PA.

If I knowingly was selling something that could takes someones life each time its consumed by the body and keep on doing it even after person after person dies that makes me a heartless person. That has no regard for life. The problem is if the intoxicated person died each time he drank a beer; there would be less drunks out there. If you were at a party and saw people drinking and ambulance after ambulance was being called because people were dieing you wouldnt drink the beer. If you were at a bar selling alcohol and people were falling over and dieing you d stop selling. Beer and heroin are different drugs.

Different drugs, yes, But once again, teach the kids not to do drugs then the dealers will stop dealing or sell something else.
Not all heroin user die, we make our own problems.

I'm not blaming anyone for anything. My comment was directed at your idea that we can just teach our kids not to do drugs and the drug dealers will go away. Is this not the approach that has been used for the last forty years? It clearly doesn't work. Each and every kid in high school is taught to just say no. So I'm just saying if you think that this works then you must live in a fairy tale land.

every time a heroin user does a drug he or she is playing russian roulette. The last snort or injection can be the last. Each bag is a different dose. Some heroin is more pure than others. That doesnt make a better high: just a deadlier high. The user and dealer are both at fought for the drugs brought into the community. The dealer is more guilty because they count the money and walk away without a care about the person or the persons family who will be affected. When you are dealing and sell and sell and person after person dies; that it the lowest life form out there. I will not let the dealer not take there part in the responsibility of the drug usage in this community. Hey the do the crime: then they should do the time. YEAH let the drug dealers sell something else. What would that be? what drug would be ok to sell? To the youth and adults of tomorrow? both are accountable
