Marylan, I am not complaining. All I am doing is making a statment. Yu-all do what you want with new ideas & new changes to the town. All we that have been here, & most born & raised here is sayig to let in place what took years of work & many helping hands, that never ask for a dollar, to let it in place & not strive to get rid of it.

I'm confused as to why the siren supporters feel that the lack of the siren alert at the fire house is dangerous. If I am not mistaken, the siren on the truck is the primary alert system for traffic and pedestrians.

I live two miles out of town and it often wakes me at night. I pity the people that live in close proximity to it.

the siren was stopped to cut down energy cost but 4 emergency situtions like natural diaster, tornado
So if u want your tax dollars increased blow the siren or we can use less energy cost less to operate an ALL VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY
We r all looking 4 ways 2 spend less 2 operate our own homes this is no different we r not 4 profit public service company
We all need to conserve some its a community affair we need 2 work together more now then ever
Thank you 4 your attention 2 this matter

I guess you would like me to take back all the money I spent at local places of business and local contractors to build my new home. I can also take all the school tax money (I have no children) and property tax money back too. If you like I can stop patronizing local restaurants, shops and vendors too. These comments get old, can someone please explain to me exactly how Marylanders moving here have ruined everything? Last time I checked most of us have decent jobs and pour a fair amount of money into the local economy.
Well said!! Anyways I think its just a pet peve for the long timers to cuss people from Md.,,

I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with a siren in back of my house. Never really a big deal, some of our dogs liked to howl when it came on. Sometimes it would go off several times in a row--usually when there was a bad accident on 404. I remember the influx of "western shore people"--kind of like the influx of Marylanders into PA. People thought the Eastern Shore was quaint and moved there. Then realized that quaint meant stores shut down at 6 pm and you could not get food (pizza/Chinese) delivered to your house. Then those people got on the town council.

Here's the point: The new people were voted onto the town council just like the new people were voted onto the board here. There were enough "natives" to keep them off but some of their ideas weren't bad. Do we still refer to people as western shore people--yes. But for the most part we all survived.

Still can't get Chinese food delivered in my hometown and despite all the complaining the siren still sounds because there are too many "dead zones" to rely on pagers/cell phones.

And to Driller: It is spelled ya'll, and the Marylanders you refer to are mostly from the western shore so they don't even use ya'll.

Reading all the comments from you idiots makes me shake my head in wonderment. All this over a stupid, antiquated, unnecessary old siren. It makes me think of a saying I once read. Intelligent people talk about solutions, regular people talk about their problems, stupid people talk about each other. OMG I'm one of you.
