great for those with that kind of money to spend or those that can say - oh, I got it at the Mansion. I'll stay with the Hanover Market on Saturdays.

I remember ANDREW LITTLE when he was just simply Andy! With today's economy and people on very tight budgets I give this business adventure about 6 months BUT GOOD LUCK!!

My husband and I visited the Sheppard Market this morning, and it was delightful! Wonderful renovation to the carriage house, and lots of great creations from local people. There is always room for more businesses, and this truly helps our ailing downtown neighborhood! Certainly there is room for another market in Hanover...try it out!

The shop is wonderful and should be recognized as a real plus to Hanover. And Andrew "Andy" Little is one of the most accomplished chefs in the Mid Atlantic region. Hanover has a very diverse population and we needed a good restaurant/shop to draw tourists to the area. I cannot believe the negative comments on this site.

Great to see local farmers and small businesses supported. We have incredible local stuff all around us, and we're now starting to see an increase in markets that will allow for easier access.

Ventures like this will only increase support for our older, established markets. As people put aside assumptions and see the great produce (local milk, beef, pork, vegetables, baked goods, etc.) and fair prices, the shift toward supporting local producers will only improve. I visited both a traditional, local market today (in Gettysburg) and the Carriage House. Perfect compliments to each other.
Love Gettysburg as it is

I was there and loved this beautifully restored market. Prices were very reasonable and goods high quality. Got some great breads, local honey, and home-made soap that smelled great. Well worth a visit. Let's support local businesses and farms!

No everyone is broke or working a low paying job. They might even accept food stamps. Sounds like a nice place to shop and socialize. Put the coffee on and I'll be there.

Hey Naysayers!

A few observations:

First, the steady line of customers that I saw leaving the Carriage House Market today, carrying neat little brown shopping bags of goods, tells me that the products sold at the Market are neither "artsy fartsy", nor overpriced.

Second, the Sheppard Mansion deserves admiration and respect for having the vision and the fortitude to launch an endeavor such as this. What other downtown business offers so much to it's suppliers, it's customers, and the community at large? They don't deserve sarcastic predictions of their long term success by the narrowminded and uninformed.

Those of us who actually WENT to the Carriage House market this weekend KNOW what a great addition it will make to downtown Hanover, and the area at large.

I am honored to have my products displayed and sold at The Carriage House. We were in yesterday and picked up some treats and will hopefully have time to come back again today. It'll be a 'must shop' for my meal ingredients. Thanks for putting such passion into something so very important - growing our local economy ... nutritiously, and luxuriously! Awesome job !

We live in York City and have been to the Carriage House Market twice for meats and cheeses. It's worth the (little!) drive to be able to get the quality. we'll be back.

More for me then. By the way, their beef was pretty much the same price as at market on Saturday. You seem to be the arrogant one, not the Carraige House.

Kudos to the people behind a great idea. There is certainly demand by those who would like to know where their food is coming from, what's going in it and welcome an opportunity to support local food producers.

Ignore the naysayers on the board who are simply jealous that they have neither the means nor the inclination to start such a commendable, and hopefully successful, endeavor.
