Yes, it is amazing that a lot of people have no idea how New Orleans flooded from the storm. Urban Myths abound so it is good to have the facts and a chart on what actually happened. Share it with everyone so people will understand the failure in the protective system so it does not happen again.

Here is what happened to New Orleans. Go back about 150 years and attract the dumbest people on earth. Tell them to settle in an area below sea level surrounded by the mighty Mississippi River, Lake Ponchatrain and the boiling cauldron known as the Gulf of Mexico during hurricane season. Add several million more people and building structures and roads everywhere so there is no where for rain to recede. Then just wait for the big one. There will be another Katrina before long. Same thing will happen all over again. People will have a good weeks notice to leave but they won't. Then they will blame the government for their own ignorance.

New Orleans flooded and stayed flooded after Hurricane Katrina because the city sits 5 feet BELOW sea level!!!
