This was FRAUD, plain and simple. Where are the state and federal authorities who should be investigating this? Has Mr Durr even filed for bankruptcy?

Have any of you contact the local New Orleans news? I say we get them exposed! Like all of you, I paid for the full year up front in Nov.(which is the only way you can pay!) and called the other day to get a plumber in and the line has been busy. I paid for it on my AmEx. I called AmEx to see if they can contest the charge. They are researching it for me. They have a right to know b/c they are their merchant and have AmEx's machines. I want some sort of refund so I can go to a reputable company!!

Call your realtor and let them know you purchased the home on the basis that is had a warranty and let them know in no uncertain terms that you expect them or the previous owners to repair the AC and to replace the warranty.
I live in Ok, bought an "existing" home that was sold to me with a 1 yr UA Durr warranty. A/C isn't working. Found out UA Durr is gone. The waranty was part of our signed Sales Contract. Already contacted my realtor and the sellers realtor. My realtor told me to tell their realtor same thing you did. Their realtor said sellers held up their end and provided a warranty and not their fault about UA Durr, so it's up to me to get my own warranty now.
So... the info you provided about contacting the realtor... is that covered by any laws or statutes? I paid for an A/C man to come out and he said it has to be replaced. I can't afford to replace my A/C. But seems I have a signed legal/binding contract that isn't so binding. I need some kind of LEGAL basis to go on.

Contact your state attorneys office and see what they say. I know the realtor receives a COMMISSION (like $80) on each home warranty, so whether or not there is a legal responsiblity , there is a moral responsiblity, the realtor should have investigated whether Durr was a licensed warranty provided and not have been swayed by the payoff. I really do think there might be something illegal to this on the realtors part (maybe not the homeowner as they relied on the realtors expert advice).

His mom was in her mid 90's, it was her time. Hey maybe he inherited some money to pay off all the debts his business has incurred to the people who depended on his honesty. What would a minister of Jesus do?

Make them collect from Durr first. The company has not yet filed for bankruptcy!! And continue to contact the state's attorney, local and national media, your congressional representatives, etc. There are rumours (not sure if true) that the company took its employees on an all expense paid cruise in Jan, so this definitely needs to be investigated. Return the bills marked "owed by Durr, cease the harrassment"
I AM ON THE SERVICE PROVIDER END....I HAVE TRIED TO REACH UA DURR BUT HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULL....I HATE HAVING TO GO TO THE CUSTOMER TO PAY ME BUT THAT IS MY NEXT STEP. U A DURR PAID 1 PRIOR INVICE WITH A CREDIT CARD BUT THEN THEY WILL NOT RETURN CALLS, GET A BUSY SIGNAL OR NO ONE COMES TO THE DOOR AT THEIR PLACE OF BUSINESS. sMALL CLAIMS COURT CAN NOT SERVE THEM ..... NO ON AT THEIR OFFICE. I HAVE NO OTHER IFO ON THEM...HOWEVER FROM A SERVICE PROVIDER'S STANDPOINT I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ANOTHER HOME WARRANTY CO. AS THIS IS THE 3RD ONE IN 4 YEARS THAT HAS SBURNED ME.

I REALLY HATE TO SEE THE CONSUMER GET RIPPED OFF LIKE THIS HOWEVER I AM ON THE SERVICE PROVIDER END OF THE SPECTRUM...I HAVE BEEN SCREWED BY UA DURR ALSO. I HATE TO HAVE TO GO TO THE CUSTOMER BUT I HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE...NO ONE ANSWERS PHONE OR YOU GET A BUSY, MAIL IS RETURNED....NO ONE ANSWERS THE DOOR AT THE BUSINESS ADDRESS....SMALL CLAIMS COURT CAN NOT SERVE THEM DUE TO NO ONE IS AT THE ADDRESS. MY ONLY OPTION IS THAT I BILL THE CUSTOMER HOPING THEY GET MAD ENOUGH TO PURSUE THE ISSUE AFTER THEY HAVE TO PUT MONEY OUT TO ME THAT DURR SHOULD HAVE PUT OUT FOR THEM. AS A MAJOR SERVICE PROVIDER IN LA. MY COMPANY WILL NO LONGER DO ANY WARRANTY WORK FOR A HOME WARRANTY COMPANY..PERIOD!!!! THIS HAS BEEN THE 3RD TIME IN 4 YEARS WE HAVE LOST MONEY FROM NON PAYMENT OF A HOME WARRANTY CO. FROM WHAT I AM HEARING IN MY INDUSTRY THE MAJORITY OF SERVICE PROVIDERS HAVE NOW DECIDED TO AVOID HOME WARRANTY COMPANIES. THIS WILL MAKE IT TUFF ON HOMEOWNERS, BUT AS A PROVIDER OF SERVICES LIKE PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL AND HEAT & A/C SERVICES WE HAVE TO GET PAID OTHERWISE WE HAVE NO INCOME. GOOD LUCK I HOPE SOMEONE COMES OUT OF THIS VICTORIOUS.

Look up Uriel Durr and deacon on google and you will find where he can be phoned and served with legal papers. Also call the FBI and lodge a complaint because there are rumours that he converted company funds to personal bills.

I have a signed contract of sale that included the home warranty to be provided by seller.. we purchased home end of oct, 2007... warranty co not specified in it.. sellers picked the co... now my realtor just tells me to go to their realtor... their realtor told me sellers did as contract asked and got me a warranty and it's not the sellers fault and that I now have to take care of repairs myself and/or get my own warranty... I'm getting nowhere... and I have an a/c that needs replaced too. anyone find any kind of laws or statutes for this ? is this a breach of contract ?

This is just my opinion, but I think maybe the seller's realtor may be guilty of "fraud by proxy" since they took a "kickback" from the warranty company and did not properly investigate whether it was a reputable licensed or bonded company. But the Durr warranty wouldn't have covered the full cost of a system replacement anyway. They would just have their service people patch it back together at the lowest possible cost, or they would pay so much (there was a limit , like $1500-2000) toward a new system if it couldn't be repaired at all.

I decided to sign up with First American Home Warranty. They currently have a special deal going on right now. Or so that's what I heard from a friend of mine who is with them.
I spoke to a represetative named Eric at their company. He was very nice and helpful.
And he offered me a 30 day money back guarantee.. with immediate coverage...
something NO ONE else would offer me.
Give him a call.
His number is 866-387-7826 Ext.2470.

Uriel Durr and his sales reps went on a company cruise 5 months before closing his doors. His main sales rep misspent money and left a few months before they closed and went to AHS Warranty Co. Word is he and she mismanaged and misspent monies.
