Add another cruiser to the junk pile! That body shop across the bridge is loaded with'em. Now all you people that assumed the other drivers were at fault can shut up now. Everybody was heading Northbound and the officer failed to stop, plain and simple. You and I would have been given a ticket and maybe had to submit to a DUI test. The officer won't have anything done and you can bet he was yapping on his cell phone at the time.

if it was anyone else they would get a ticket for following too closely! The PO should get one too.

Accidents happen all the time now that Route 7 has four lanes of traffic and people need to make left hand turns. It appears that little thought was contemplated in designing traffic flow.
However, it appears that there is little doubt as to who is at fault for causing this accident and the police officer, involved, should be ticketed to assess blaim and he should be reprimanded if need be. While most of the NMPD officers drive with care and consideration there ARE some who drive like they own the road and the rules don't apply to them. Many times I've witnessed one or two of them driving while on their cell phones. The laws of the road should apply to all and not just civilians. Also, it might be time for the Chief of Police to investigate this accident and take remedial action for those who've been less than responsible in his department with regards to safe driving practices and rules of the road.
