I am the sister of Earl Dean McLaughlin. I am asking, please, for any new leads or information in solving his murder from 1980. Please contact the State Police, Trooper Henderson with any information on this case. Thank you so much...Help our family.

My advise, for what it's worth, is for you to set up a bank account for a reward fund, put an ad in the paper to try to achieve this. You are in a position to ask for funds from people for a reward to someone who has the information to get a conviction. I'm sorry for the hell you live with.

Thank you for your suggestion. That is one we have not thought about. Fortunately, thru this site, Tim Haught, the Prosecuting Attorney for Wetzel County is going to be looking into some of the opinions, and information that has been posted. I have faith that my brother's case can be solved. Earl deserves justice for his death. He was only 17...and never knew that on that night, his life would be over. I know someone out there, knows something....actual facts, not just rumors, or their opinion. And maybe, my Dad will get some peace on knowing what happened that night, and why???

If u would ever offer a reward for someone to come forward with information leading to the arrest and coviction of those responsible i would donate money and im sure a lot of other people would to. So if it ever comes to that please put the information on here.

I hope a reward fund is started soon. I'm sure if the reward was substantial, then someone would sing, I'm for giving one of them immunity if he talks.

Well I've read into this case, and have done a good bit of studying. If your wanting Justice for the murder of earl dean, Good luck. The man that beat him to death is now dead himself. I have heard alot of stories over the years and none of them seem to fit together but one! As far as Tim Haught helping you with this, you would have a better chance of renting a Time Machine from Ace Hardware! So now one a Positive Note i hope that you find all the Justice your looking for!!!

It makes me absolutely sick that no-one has ever done the right thing in my brother's murder case. I have not a ounce of faith in people or the judicial system. It is so pathetic. And I hope and pray that anyone that had anything to do with his murder, or anyone that knows something about it burns in Hell. That they get "full circle" in their lives for having just allowed this boy to have died for whatever reasons they needed to play God that night with his life and take him from us. He was a boy, 17. And for the whole community to just allow it....what exactly does that say??? And we know that Lind Adams covered it up...that it exactly what the State Trooper said....but he is a fat old man with nothing left in him...so why should anyone be scared of him now???...he was a suspect in Earl Dean's case, but yet he made Sheriff, and Magistrate Judge. Oh My God...How???...I doubt we will ever know. But I am not afraid to stand up to the people that killed my brother. I just don't know who they are. If they are dead....Then I hope they never got the chance to repent, and they burn in Hell!!!..It has been to many years of watching my Dad suffer...and if any of you know him, he is a great man, and deserves to have some peace in this.

Thank you JUSTICE...And, yes, as far as Tim Haught...We know he has given up. And how many murders have their been in Wetzel County??? Apparently so many that this one is of no concern.

You are so terribly missed.....Son, Brother, Uncle. And you were so cheated from all the life you could have lived. The family that grew after you were so selfishly taken from us. There will be justice for you, Earl Dean. If not in this life, then in judgement. I am so sorry that the one's who killed you were able to live their lives, and you died, as a boy. But, we hold you in our hearts, and believe still that they will be held accountable for their crime. If not here, in the courts, then by God. We love you, and we miss you. Please Rest In Peace.

November 5th is Earl's birthday!!....He would have been 50 this year. I wish I could have been able to share the events in my life with him. My children, their accomplishments, my grandchildren. There have been times in my Dad's life, when even though we have had such joy, that it could not be complete because Earl was taken from us. Like there is always something missing, not there, that needed to be to make it perfect. And you hold on to the memories, as old as they may be, because you owe that to him. To not forget, EVER!!! I won't just "let this go"...I can't. Tawyna.rose@yahoo.com

Hi Tawyna. Just wanted to say i am so sorry for your family's loss. I knew of your dad through my dad. I went to school with Earl Dean, and he was always a bright spot in your day no matter what was going on. I just thought i would share this little memory of him with you. I was pregnant and out of school, but i was big pregnant, and one night at Camp Copperhead he made me square dance with him. I will never forget that. I have never forgotten him, and i think of him often. He was so young and innocent. I hope that one day we will know the truth. I know he is in Heaven, and i will get to see him there. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thank you Mountaineer girl for sharing that, and your prayers. We are certainly only running on prayers if we want answers for his murder. He did love to Square Dance. We went to the Jacksonburg Homecoming every year. And every year he would be grabbing my little hands, or putting me on his hip, and dancing with me out there on the blacktop. And everyone would be smiling, because he was always smiling. I certainly feel cheated out of so many more memories we deserved to have...I was 10 when he was murdered. The night that Dad and Mom came home from the hospital and told me he was gone, I layed in the floor with the photo album and just looked at his picture. Because there was just no way that my brother was dead!!...They had no right to take him. And at 10 I was introduced to what heart-broken felt like. And I pray for the day someone gives our family an explanation on why he died. Not on the maybe's of how he died, but to look in my Dad's face, and tell him what reason they had to murder Earl. We may never know all the answers, but that one will do just fine.

Hang in there, Tawyna. I think God's going to pull some strings. Adams used to be a lifeguard at the pool. He told told me once he'd throw me out and he didn't need a reason. I think that sums it up. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. His lodge brothers won't be able to save him when he has to pay the fiddler.

I think this is a fair question. If it is not please give reasons why it is not. If there is evidence a citizen, in this case a policeman, conspired to cover up a murder, was he put through the third degree by the police and prosecutor, told he would go to prison for life, etc. etc. if he didn't confess and make a deal. This is standard operating procedure for a person caught pushing a few pills. For God's sake, this was murder.
